╚»★«╝ ᴀᴄʀᴏss ᴇᴛᴇʀɴɪᴛʏ: ᴘʀᴏʟᴏɢᴜᴇ ╚»★«╝ It’s here! The first half of the prologue of my new fanfiction, Across Eternity! I’ve been promising this for a while, and I’m so excited to reveal the first chapter! Across Eternity takes place mainly during the story of TOTK, and is told from the perspectives of multiple characters, as well as split between past and present, like the game. FYI, the prologue is split into two parts: a legend-y tale and a flashback. This part one! Slight warning for future installments: this series will and is intended for ages 12 +. Please press the flag, not only because of views but because there’s music! ╰☆☆ ʜᴏᴡ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ ᴡᴀs ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ☆☆╮ Once upon a time, the world did not exist. Until there were three goddesses. The first was Din, goddess of power and fire, and the eldest of the three. The second, Nayru, the kind-hearted goddess of wisdom and water. And the youngest, Farore, the sparky and energetic goddess of courage and lightning. Each of these three shared a vision: to create their own world, one they could watch over and love with all their hearts. The vision of this new world started with Nayru; she shared it with the others and they agreed to her plan. And so they made the world. Fiery Din, she used her control over flames to forge in fire the red earth. Courageous Farore, she waved her hands and with that created life across it, both plant and animal. And wise Nayru, she swept her palms over it and with that brought order to it all. Their work done, the goddesses did one final act: they created a sacred artifact, the most precious and dangerous thing in the land. It was the Triforce, containing equally the powers of each of its creators. With this, a special ability- the power to grant the deepest wish of whoever touched the completed relic. With that, the goddesses left the land, entrusting the guardianship of it and the Triforce to a fourth goddess- the goddess Hylia. Hylia herself was perhaps the most powerful of them all, with powers of light that outshone all in the universe. Taking her duty seriously, she vowed to protect the power of the Triforce from evil - for if a dark heart touched it, the world would fall to ruin. There was in this land humans, a species that Hylia grew to be fond of. She assumed guardianship over these people, calling them Hylians after herself. Soon, the Hylians began to worship Hylia, revering her and building shrines and statues in her honor. Those who were closest to her developed pointed ears, a sign that they were more open to hear messages from heaven. This was a trait that soon the entire race came to possess. Hylia watched over the Hylians for many years, until a dark force rose, its greedy claws reaching for the Triforce. United together, the races of the land fought mightily against the threat. Among these people was a Hylian knight, the bravest in the land. Despite the strength of her forces, soon they began to weaken. Hylia realized that the only way to keep the Triforce safe was to send it into the sky, far from the reaches of the enemy. With all of her might, she lifted sections of the land into the sky, and her chosen people along with it. The Triforce was carried far from evil, and the darkness sealed. Tragically, Hylia’s knight died in the process sealing the ancient evil in exchange for his life. Through her tears, Hylia realized that her world would not be safe for long. With one final act, she entrusted her soul into a mortal body, so that she might be reincarnated again and again, alongside her hero, able to fight back against the enemy through the ages. Many years later, in a land in the sky, a young boy was chosen by a red bird, and a new journey began. Alongside Hylia’s reincarnation, Zelda, he fought back the evil that was arising again, defeating it and securing the Triforce. His name was Link, hero of the sky, and many more would follow after him, bearing his name. However, the darkness would not go out without a fight. With its last breaths it brought upon the land a terrible curse and prophecy… (continued in Notes and Credits)
“I will rise again! Those like you... Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... They are eternally bound to this curse. An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind, dooming them to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time!” And so it was promised. Link and Zelda descended from the sky, along with the rest of the Hylians, and founded a new civilization down on the surface to continue protecting the Triforce. It so happened that there was another race in the skies - an ancient tribe long forgotten by man. They were said to be the chosen messengers of the goddesses, with strange, magical technology and mysterious abilities. One day, many years later, they descended from the sky, shocking all who lived on the surface. The people thought these strange creatures must be gods, and fell to their knees in terror. However, they meant no harm, and introduced the Hylians to their technology, helping them prosper in their new lands. One of these gods fell in love with a mortal woman, a priestess in service to the Goddess. She happened to also be a descendant of the goddess’s mortal form, possessing strange powers that were unheard of among her people. Perhaps because of this, he felt drawn to her, and soon the two were married. There came a time where he decided to show his wife his tribe’s greatest treasure, a collection of magical artifacts said to possess an immeasurable power, and to amplify the magical potency of their holders. As a token of the union between their races, he gifted her one. Soon, the two had risen to be king and queen of the land, the former now the last of his kind. Beloved by his subjects, he strived to bring balance and prosperity to their united peoples. Alongside her, he fostered peace and growth between the many tribes of Hyrule, forming a strong union through his patience and diplomatic skills. But there was one kingdom who would not ally with the fledgling monarchy. In the far southwestern desert, a dark, ancient prophecy was coming true… The ancient darkness, hidden for ages, stirred at last. But there was still hope. There was a knight, far in the future, and a sacred princess, the mortal Hylia. They would be tested beyond their knowledge, face nearly insurmountable odds, and even stronger and more dangerous enemies. They might perhaps even die in the process. Perhaps the malice would overcome them. They could, possibly, fail. But in that other future…the slight glimmer of light ahead… They might just save them all.
