this was originally made for a slide show kind of style that @Ender-1239 made (go follow them btw), but it didnt work out so well so here i am to information in a less satisfying way because i dont know how TvT ~~~~ (go to notes and credits you foot muncher ^^)
!!ALL ABOUT THE MARGAY!! body: theyre body is just the size over a house cat, the average male weighing 5.7/8.8 pounds, same as the female. There ankles are specially built to help them climb trees, turning at an 80 degree angle. There coat mimics the speckled light over the rainforest, helping them disguise through the trees easily. they also have a long tail, sometimes longer than there body in size. the tail helps them balance there way through the trees, usually the size of about 13-20 inches. Behavior: The margay is a solitary and primarily nocturnal animal, however it HAS been recorded many times to hunt throughout the day, they just tend to sleep through it better and hunt at night with more ease, also mainly catching other nocturnal animals in their diet: eg, rats, mice, bugs. Habitat: The margay lives in northern Mexico, Central America, and South America, east of the Andes mountains, and as far to the south as Uruguay and northern Argentina, all the way stretching through rainforests across the globe. Hunting style: the way a margay hunts is, suprisingly to some, mostly through the trees. they use there bending ankles to manuver there way to the tree tops and stealthily watch and wait for there prey (usually small monkeys, mice, SOMETIMES bats, and birds , though thats the "tree diet"), and if they cant seem to catch or come close to the target, they hide and actully mimic the voices and nosie of there prey, usually a mating noise, forming interest to the animal and come close enough so that the margay can POUNCE and catch its kill. (fun fact, when i was younger, i'd wait and watch at my window for any birds and through the day i would listen to the noise they made, learn about there vocals, and mimic back at them. it was surprisingly fun, and any margays out there, you should do that to help get shifty or connected to your theriotype!) the margay can jump from great distances to hunt, using there long and somewhat thick tail to help them balance mid-air. fun! Diet: I do apologize for mentioning their diet throughout the previous paragraphs, but here: the margay eats a various of foods, that being - bugs - birds - monkeys (smaller in size, like the tiger something something name thingy im too bothered to remember-AHAAA ITS 15/11/2024, THIS WAS MADE AGES AGO AND I WANT TO CORRECT MY DUMB AF ADHD BRAIN: it was the Golden Lion Tamarin) - amphibians of any or most sort (same day, wth was i saying?) - arthropods - eggs - reptiles - fruits - maybe fish, i dont know, haha! i guess if theyre lucky enough to see one of the forest floor RANDOMLY they will eat it. mating information: from what i've researched, they made at the age of twelve to eighteen months - the age that they are mature enough to do so *s3xual maturity for the margay* What are they like around humans?: in captivity, they are fine, but very occupied with everything around them to properly give a poop about humans. In theory one could tame it, but thats honestly not good for them if you ask me. Let them be wild my guy :3 My experience with my identity: Well, when i first 'got into' theriantrophy, (and later the whole of the alterhuman community as a well), i thought for SURE i was a cat, and had made several accusations of myself, some of them being: - brown "somewhat wild" maine coon - Coyote (still is, but coyote hearted) - Red fox (still apart of my identity) - For a VERY minimal time, i thought my theriotype was a bird, which wasnt long lasting, i just knew i was very well with climbing trees and tend to spend a ton of time in trees, too. (random as heck story time!! when i was younger me and my siblings would climb a tree in our yard, and we would climb together all the time, and tended to mark different parts of the tree as our territory. now this is actually a huge givaway on my identity the margay, but i was so passionate and deadly comftorable with climbing trees that i would hang upside down on one leg, three and a half meters up the air, and easily manuvered my way back to my 'comfy spot' on an intwined branch) But now i have come to realize the whole margay situation, and honestly, I identify as a human person, but ME is a margay if that makes sense! It feels wrong to say i identify as human, cause I don't ykwim? Like I'm human, but I dont identify as that partially. Well I hope this post cleared up some stuff and shed some light on the margay!! Fun-fact, this post was made in July, it is now November, it's 9:57 PM for me in Australia, and holy hell I just came to check over my post (you can find me making small comments in brackets beforehand, in the other paragraphs of this post ^^) to find I somehow got distracted and didn't finish it. for four months.
