I've always been a bit of a writer (you can find my stuff on AO3 under the name StarsAboveSkyBelow), but I had some great shower thoughts and now I'm writing a novel. Or series, if all goes well; I think a trilogy or even just a duology should work best. The premise: Main character of a very bad, very cishet fantasy romance novel #1: isn't cis or het, #2: is much more interesting than the (fictional--layers upon layers here) author, #3: is aware to a degree of the fourth wall and xir situation. It'll be an exploration of free will, and also an excuse to write obscene amounts of worldbuilding without worrying about pacing, because of the odd state of narrative patterns and tropes in this situation. The project is bios for important characters. There will likely be more!
People, things, and concepts I'm going to want to credit in the Acknowledgements eventually: Victor Hugo (Les Mis's sarcastic icons and lengthy tangential essays are an inspiration!) Tui T. Sutherland (for being my favorite author from 5 to 13 or so, and still up top of my list, and for making me want to become an author for pretty much that entire length of time (physicist is just barely topping it now)) Terry Pratchett (for having a level of fourth-wall-breaking and narrative commentary that probably was the mental seed of this, subconsciously) My family (for being generally awesome, not everyone gets that, and Mom's doctorate of poetry has likely greatly influenced my life) An intriguing medley of Kurzgesagt, Night Vale, and His Dark Materials (for giving me my philosophy when it comes to free will, and most other things, frankly (or at least the words for it))
