Chapter #2: Curse You Vikram Just when things couldn’t get any worse, I’d done this to myself. The seating chart will change, right? I got a subtle waft of fruity perfume, it smelled like vanilla and bergamot as she walked by. I flinched, “Hi, I’m Teddy, I don’t believe we’ve met before. Clayton, is it?” Her voice was sharp, almost forced. I let go of a deep groan, “I go by Clay, is there something I can help you with, or are you just wasting my time?” It sounded a lot less disdainful in my head. Teddy straightened up a bit, “I figured getting to know you would give me another familiar face, if you know what I mean,” she folded her arms across her chair and cocked her head to the side. Her expression remained the same, warm and welcoming. “Not that we have to be friends or anything like that, just become acquainted is all,” She sounded oddly embarrassed when she spoke, I was glad to put her in her place, where she belonged. Also, another familiar face, as if she didn’t have enough already, God she is so obnoxious. I readjusted myself, will this conversation ever end? “Fine, just don’t bother me too much, alright?” Teddy’s eyes lit up and she grinned, crossing her fingers, “No promises!” I spent the rest of class working on my story, or at least trying to. It was very hard to concentrate when you sat in the middle of several in-depth conversations about sports and whatnot. The bell finally rang, and I dashed out the door. I did not want to spend one more moment in that room with her. I already had a migraine and it’s only the first day Teddy’s sat next to me. I slowed my pace once I reached the main corridor. Vikram was at his locker, waiting, for who? “What exactly are you up to?” I asked. He leaned against the cream colored wall with a smug smile painted along his face. “Look who it is, if it isn't a lover boy,” What the hell was he talking about? “I’m not playing any of your stupid games right now, save your sob story, get to your point now.” “Yikes, feeling a bit salty?” I shoved his arm off of my shoulder, and he held his hands up. “Right, sorry, Teddy totally has a thing for you.” I scoffed in disbelief. It was practically impossible, a girl like her, even consider a guy like me? Not that it matters, it just doesn’t add up is all. “Whatever, she literally met me an hour ago. There’s no way,” Vikram furrowed his eyebrows, “Dude, I’m not teasing, I just know it,” I glared at him, “I swear!” “Uh huh, and how can you be so sure, cupid?” We made our way to the quad area and claimed a table. I can’t believe how long this topic has lasted. “Look, I just know it, that’s good enough for me.” I smirked, “I’m so glad that you’ve got something worked out.” Vikram smiled and gave me a rough push, almost knocking me over. We continue talking, but I can’t help wondering if he’s right after all. Lunch ended and got going again. I started walking up the stairs when I was yanked, hard backwards. I got my footing and whipped my head around. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” I immediately regretted my exclamation. It was Teddy, again. “Sorry, I just didn’t have a chance to say goodbye, I didn’t pull you too hard, did I?” She beamed, her lips forming a kind smile. “Uh no, I’m fine.” Why would she need to talk to me again? Teddy gave me a look, I’m not sure what it was, but it was strange. “So anyways, Mrs. Dayton’s short story assignment. I need help with, kind of all of it. I can’t get a bad grade on this paper, my parent’s will kill me. Vikram told me you might be able to help?” Curse you Vikram. I rubbed my forehead, she’s so petty, there’s no way I’m helping her out of all people. “Sure, library, tomorrow?” Why would I say that? She flicked out her hair, loose blonde curls that fell just below her shoulders. She sighed, “You got it! After school?” I tend to go get food with Vikram afterschool on Tuesdays, but I’m sure since he’s the mastermind behind all of this, he won’t mind me not paying for him this time around. I nodded, she let out a shriek, directly in my ear, how fun. She waved to me, and I held up my hand. And that was that. I’m meeting up with Teddy Calahan. Now that was a real shocker indeed. -------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for reading, hopefully my next post will be Aug. 3rd!!
