Scratch Team, please don’t add AI “art” generation! I know you mean well, but here are the reasons why you SHOULDN’T add AI image generation: 1. With AI image generation, people can create inappropriate images that children as young as EIGHT could see! 2. AI generator STEAL ART from the internet and mash the art pieces together to make images! This means that AI takes COPYRIGHTED art and doesn’t let the artist give their consent to their art being used! 3. AI takes the IMAGINATION out of “Scratch: Imagine, Program, Share”! AI teaches kids that they don’t have to actually learn to CREATE anything, and that if they want to “create” something, all they have to do is type a prompt into a box and let the computer do all the work! AI doesn’t teach kids to imagine, it teaches them to be lazy! 4. With AI “art” so easy to access, no one wants to commission REAL artists, causing many artists to go out of business due to AI art! Even though the truth is, AI could never be as good as a human! AI images are unnaturally smooth, with no evidence of brushstrokes! All AI images are flawed, because AI could never create art as good as a human’s! Think about all the time you’d be wasting typing prompts for the AI just to get flawed images, when you could be commissioning a real artist instead! Scratch Team, if you’re reading this, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t add AI image generators! Scratch is one of the ONLY sites where artists can post art without being overrun by the AI image generators! Please don’t take that away from us!
