This project has also been shared on my alternate account (Which ironically has a lot more followers.) In case you don't know, Scratch may incorporate artificial image generation into the platform (See https://scratch.org/blog/inside-scratch-lab-ai-image-generation/). I will paste my thoughts from my comments in @GameGirlX 's project, and expand upon them below: I thought Scratch would be the LAST place to incorporate AI, but I guess I was wrong. The thing I hate the most about AI art is that it is not worthy of the name. Art implies emotion, and is not limited to drawings. It can include acting, music playing, etc. The only thing that makes art 'art' is passion, which is definitely not part of the image generation process. It never even sees what is creates or uses; it's converted into strings of colour values for each pixel before the machine gets to it, at which point it takes in any patterns it sees (As a human might if you could get them to comprehend it all at once.) and links those to what you told the machine it was. It then compiles all of the patterns that you told it were of any given prompt and squishes them together, and spits it out. That is the entire system. The post does say that they will only be using copyright-free artwork/photography, but stealing art is not the only problem here. (Although it is a very large one with almost all other AI, and I am glad they aren't.) I have absolutely no idea how adding AI would be good; it goes against everything the Scratch Team is trying to build, and closes off almost all creativity. There are already text AIs that know Scratch code, so how long after this change will they add that? It could be years, but could also be a matter of weeks. I figured that the values of Scratch must have changed recently, so after some searching I found that a new CEO had been chosen in January of this year. I assume that is why, but I am not sure, and please do not throw any hate at the new CEO. I just don't understand what happened. Creativity is one of their main values, and this kills it. Another massive thing is this: Around half of Scratch is artists. That is not a joke. I am following a few of them. The person I got this from, GameGirlX, is one of them, and I assume this will kill off the entire thing. My profile picture was drawn by one of them. I created my alt account for a drawing contest (Which I completely failed.) I, along with a lot of other people on Scratch I assume, will completely stop using it. I will create a project explaining why and leave. There is a petition that has been created for it (not by me), if you would like to sign: https://www.change.org/p/stop-scratch-ai?cs_tk=AiyDoDFCIQokUET5p2YAAXicyyvNyQEABF8BvFX98JqMqFQfTQhNfJkAJqE%3D&utm_campaign=fd21107c33754fb7a072f8bbb3b2e976&utm_content=initial_v0_2_0&utm_medium=email&utm_source=recruit_sign_digest&utm_term=cs
