As I made this project, I was in remembrance of Hurricane Beryl and past hurricanes that happened weeks, months, or years ago. Many people suffered losses of power and water outages. But now, this city will be great again. Warning! If you don't prepare for a hurricane, you could end up drowning like Andie. To prepare for a hurricane, follow these steps; Making a plan. Know your evacuation routes. Go to local emergency shelters. Making a plan for your pets. Prepare a kit. Include a go kit with supplies you can carry. Like water, food, a flashlight, a radio, and a first aid kit. Also have a stay-at-home kit with supplies that last longer. Like a one-month supply of medication. Secure your home. Install hurricane shutters. Close windows or board them up. Secure connections between walls, roofs, and foundations. And reinforce attached structures. Learn emergency skills. Learn first aid and CPR. And sign up for emergency alerts in your local government. During the storm During the storm, stay in safe areas like closets, interior rooms, downstairs bathroom. And stay away from windows, sky lights, and glass doors. Follow alerts. Listen to local news, national news, and emergency alerts. Be prepared for power outages. Close refrigerators to prevent food from spoiling. Plug major appliances into surge protectors or separate ground circuits. You can also turn off breakers and unplug these items. If you use a portable generator, read the manufacturer's instructions. Don't go outside. Wait for confirmation that the storm has passed before leaving your house. After the storm, power outages can leave your home in the dark for days, weeks, and even months. Even water outages can be possible. Watch out for flooded roads, broken power lines, fallen trees, or anything that may be dangerous on the road.
