Just as it seams nothing is happening, a female Quama bursts into the hut, carrying a kit by its scruff. UNKNOWN QUAMA: Enya! The village has found a kit washed up by the shore! ENYA: And? What do you want me to do with it? ENYA looks down at the kit. It seems to not be of any elemental origin. UNKNOWN QUAMA: Clearly it is not of our kind. The village has held a vote, and we think you should take it. ENYA: Just because the Water Quamas don’t want to take in a kit (that isn’t Water Quama kit) doesn’t mean that I should have care for it. I will not take the kit. Goodbye. ENYA begins to shut the door, but UNKNOWN QUAMA holds it open. UNKNOWN QUAMA: Please. It will die if you don’t take it. You may be a Fire Quama, but surely you can still teach it your powers? ENYA: What is your surname? UNKNOWN QUAMA: Reed. Why do you ask? ENYA: You will see. Do you have any kits of your own? UNKNOWN QUAMA: Yes. I have 3 sons and 2 daughters. My latest is only a year old. ENYA: Then I have a trade to propose. I will take in this kit on only one condition. You must give me one of your kits to raise as well. UNKNOWN QUAMA: What? Why? Why do you want to raise a Water Quama? UNKNOWN QUAMA looks rather concerned with this suggested trade. ENYA (smiling): Because I am curious the limits magic can reach. Can a non-elemental Quama learn fire magic? Can a Water Quama learn it? I have been a mentor to many successful students, but this will be my greatest challenge yet. UNKNOWN QUAMA: Will I at least get to visit my kit? This doesn’t exactly sound like a fair trade. ENYA: Of course you can visit your kit. Fire Quamas aren’t barbarians despite what the Water Quama chief thinks. UNKNOWN QUAMA still looks concerned. UNKNOWN QUAMA: Alright. I shall lend you my youngest. Her name is Cordelia. Cordelia Reed. ENYA nods. UNKNOWN QUAMA: May I ask, what do you plan to name the non-elemental kit? ENYA: Astoria. I’ve always liked that name. UNKNOWN QUAMA: But what about her surname? Will she have one? ENYA: I’m adopting her, aren’t I? Her surname will be the same as mine. From this day on, she will be called Astoria Rosenberg.
