Originally I had it formatted all nicely in canva, but I was having issues downloading it, and it's overdue enough as it is, so here's the article, and I'll upload the pretty one asap hehehe :P Woodvale Album Theory: To say Taylor Swift dominates the music industry is a huge understatement. She IS the music industry, and in July of 2020 she once again went on to prove this with the release of folklore, her eighth studio album and an instant hit. A 17 track masterpiece which broke into a whole new genre of music, and a whole ton of records in the process, folklore was storytelling as art, and it was no surprise that it went on to top charts and win awards across the world. The album was in fact such a hit that Tay didn’t want to venture ‘out of the woods’, and so she didn’t, releasing evermore only 5 months down the line, a twin album which fit as a sister to folklore in every imaginable way. But the announcement of one sibling led to speculation that there was also a third, and the concept of the twins very quickly became thought of as triplets. Folklore, evermore, and woodvale. But what is woodvale, and what’s the proof that it could actually exist? Well as always, it all comes down to easter eggs, and swifties, as we all do on our morning stroll down clownelia street, thought they had found a lot of them. Woodvale, the secret soon-to-be sister to folklore and evermore, was a fan theory brought about by observant swifties and a lot of the number three, but what exactly made us so confident that it was actually real? In all honesty, it was a lot of clutching at straws, but here’s a breakdown of the top 3 pieces of evidence: 1: the word woodvale was, quite ironically, found hidden in the cover of the folklore hide & seek edition, which led fans to believe there was a third sister album which kept the same style of artwork as it’s siblings, and that the hide & seek edition cover was potentially once a concept cover for woodvale. 2: the rule of three - during the folkmore era, Taylor, in true easter egg fashion, did everything in groups of three. Many of her instagram posts at the time included trios, for example some promo pics for evermore were taken on a backdrop of three trees, with others in front of three houses, and in both her cardigan and willow music videos she broadcast trios of items in some scenes. Most prominently though, as a part of her merchandise at the time there was a three-cardigan merch drop, one in folklore colours, one in evermore, and one in blue, which swifties were apt to assume represented woodvale and it’s future colour scheme. 3: both folklore and evermore were surprise album drops with no promotional build-up, and so fans thought TayTay might announce woodvale in the same spontaneous way, leaving only a few subtle easter eggs to pre-empt it’s release, said easter eggs which they thought they had found. Sadly though, it once again seems all the effort swifties put into clowing for woodvale wasn’t much use, as the queen herself spoke out about theories, addressing the speculation to be just that, speculation. “OK, well this takes a bit of explanation. So, I tend to be sort of annoyingly secret agent-y about dropping clues and hints and Easter eggs. And it’s very annoying. But it’s fun for fans and it’s fun for me because they like to pick up on things. And they’ll notice things in music videos or whatever. Then, sometimes I take it too far and I make a mistake. Basically, when I was making folklore, the album that came out back in July, I was too afraid to unveil the title of the album to even my closest teammates or management. I didn’t tell anybody the album title until it came out. So, I came up with a fake code name that had the same amount of letters as folklore. Chose a random name. Chose Woodvale. Wanted to see how it would look on the album covers. Mocked them up. Then decided, I don’t really want the title on the album covers. Then forgot to take the fake code name off of one.” Despite this, the woodvale theory still stands amongst the more stubborn fans who simply refuse to admit defeat, and I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say that though it’s incredibly improbable, if they were to end up being right no-one's complaining, because a woodvale release would be pretty damn great.
