Blaster fire surrounded me as I spun on the spot, slicing through wave after wave of droids. “Commander Lesaner! Get out of the way!” Rex, clone captain, pushed me to the side as a massive explosive was thrown from overhead. I got up, slightly dazed. Find balance, my masters words reminded me. I took a deep breath, then unsheathed my lightsaber again. We had the separatists overwhelmed. I smiled to myself, then threw my lightsaber at an oncoming droid. “Calypso! Focus! This battle is not yet over.” My master, Mace Windu, stood next to me, somehow managing to scold me and fend off three droids at the same time. “Yes, master. Sorry.” I retrieved my lightsaber and pushed onwards. Afterwards, back on Coruscant, I ate dinner with the clone troopers. “Heyyyy! You put up a nice fight today, blondie.” Commander Cody said, slapping me on the back. Blondie is my nickname when I’m with the clones. I prefer not to be called ‘commander’ when I’m off duty. I sat down at my usual spot in the cafeteria, and was immediately passed a tray by a clone. My favourite, too. They knew me better than my own master did. I suddenly realised everyone had gone really quiet, and they were all staring at me. I put my fork down. “Guys? What’s going on? Do I have something on my face?” Instead of answering me, they all got up and started applauding. Cody and Rex beamed down at me. “We heard that you’re being promoted to knight in a week.” He said. I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, and? It happens to every Jedi apprentice, doesn’t it?” I replied. “You don’t see every apprentice sitting in this hall with us right now, do you?” He continued smiling, and motioned for the clones to sit down. All through dinner, I had clones swamping me, and congratulating me on the promotion. “Jeez, guys. It hasn’t even happened yet.” I whispered. And, I thought, I’ll only get promoted if I survive the trials. Still, it was nice knowing that I had a whole lot of people ready to stand behind me and fight beside me. It’s not like any of the other apprentices like me. For some reason, I always get special treatment. The only one who’ll speak to me these days is Anakin, even if he’s a quite a bit younger than me, and reckless, oh, and, very annoying. I sighed. Oh well. But it wasn’t ‘well’. Nothing ever was. And I knew that for a fact when I discovered my master had been lying to me. About everything.
