This was only about 3 months ago. So there were these four girls, Eva, Liana, Sasha, and Jenny. Eva and Liana were sisters. They often fought together (obvs). Jenny was the new student. Sasha had been my friend a week ago. Now she wasn’t. And I didn’t know why. So Eva and Liana fought over Sasha, while Jenny, the quiet one, talked to me. A little bit. Day by day, my relationship with Jenny grew. I began to realize that Jenny was kind and respectful, and not rude and mean like Liana, Sasha, and Eva. I talked with Liana and Eva still, but then one day, everything changed. Liana, Eva, and Sasha ignored me. They were in a cute, popular group who had loads of ‘money’ and loads of makeup. Jenny wasn’t part of their group, but she talked to Liana, Eva and Sasha. Then Jenny began to talk calmly and comfortingly to me. “Don’t let those girls get to you, Minju. They just want to get your reaction. After all, you’re sixth grade while the others are in eighth grade. You’re taking eighth grade classes. You’re doing well!” I wanted to believe Jenny.
