After the ceremony, I heard something I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t have. I had gone to sit down in outside the room my master was in, to wait for him. I may have leaned a little closer to the door, to listen to what he and Master Yoda were saying. “I don’t see why we can’t tell her, Master.” Came Mace Windu’s voice, hushed but urgent. “Tear her apart, the truth will. See dark outcomes down that path, I do.” Came Yoda’s reply, calm and quiet. I leaned closer. What will tear me apart? Were they even talking about me? “But she deserves to know the truth! We are not supposed to be an order of liars!” My master’s voice raised, becoming angry and agitated. “Never know, she will. Be as if we never lied in the first place, it will. Understand your frustration, I do. End of discussion, this is.” I heard my master grunt in annoyance. I didn’t want the conversation to be over. I needed to know more. What were they hiding from me? Why was it such a bad idea to tell me what it was. I heard Master Yoda’s cane and jumped back into my seat and pretended I had been asleep, and was just waking up from a nap. Yoda gave me a respectful nod. “Master Lesaner. Congratulations. Proud, you must be.” He said. I smiled and bowed. “Thank you, Master Yoda. I hope to fulfil my role as part of our order.” I replied. He nodded again and stumped off. “Come along now, Calypso. We are going off to celebrate, as I do with all of my apprentices.” Mace Windu maintained a calm expression. Tentatively, I reached out through the force. Though he was doing a good job of masking his true emotions, I could feel a tinge of leftover anger at Yoda. Interesting. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to find out what the secret is. Now, I’m standing on a balcony on one of the top levels of the Jedi temple. My silk gown is far too thin, and it is far too cold to be outside, but I like to watch the cars and taxis fly past. It can be relaxing when my life becomes too stressful. Now is one of those times. Especially now I know that something big is being kept from me. “Congratulations, blondie.” Came a voice from behind me. I turn around, hand on my lightsaber just in case. Rex is standing in the doorway, smiling. “Hi, Rex. Thank you.” I replied, trying to sound happy. I really wasn’t. Everything was changing. “I’ve been moved. My unit is working with General Skywalker and Commander Tano now.” He said, not sounding sad at all. He never really liked master Windu. “I know.” I smiled, but I was facing away from Rex. “Do you know what unit has been assigned to work with you yet?” “Yes. Clone force 99. The defective ones. I hear they’re quite the handful.” Rex came over and stood next to me, laughing. “Yeah, they are. Good luck, General.” Something tells me he’s been waiting to call me that. It sounds weird, after being a Padawan for so many years. I’d don’t like it. It makes me feel like I have an extra responsibility to uphold. “Anyways, why’d you come up here?” I asked. “I got sent to let you know that all of your stuff has been moved to a bigger suite on top floor. Don’t bother going back to your old room, it’s completely empty.” “Thanks, Rex.” I replied. “No problem. Goodnight, General.” He answered. “Goodnight, captain.” I saluted, then bowed. He did the same, then left the balcony. Wow. Everything is changing so fast. I almost want to go back to being a baby, carefree and clueless about the world.
