Back when DiC was the studio writing and producing each Sonic animated series that came out, we always got some non-canon, fever dream esc, Archie comic based stuff, rather than anything actually based on the games. This of course led to a massive amount of inaccuracies and series that had nothing even remotely Sonic about them. Honestly, When I watch Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, it feels like i'm just watching an episode of Looney Toons, and when I watch Sonic Underground, I feel like I'm watching someone's Reddit fanfiction. The other thing is that these series tended to pull things from the Archie comics, which themselves took many creative liberties and were far from canon.
Sonic X took things from the Archie comics as well, with the inclusion of Chris Thorndyke, his family, and people associated with him, but I don't mind that because the series stayed true to the source material and was made up of arcs that were based off of the current game at the time, minus the Chaos Emerald Chaos arc and the Mettarex arc. Thank goodness this studio is gone and we've been getting more game based stuff that's actually canon.
