Microacus is one of the first few members of the Aperia clade - occupying the scavenger's niche. They are characterized by their often round or elongated shape - and "needle" hairs sticking out from their cell walls. These needles help them adhere to rocks and debris - where they feed by taking in the waste produced by others. The needles also prevent predation - as when hardened, they are capable of piercing the Predatoria's thick shell. They reproduce by budding or fission.
