for everyone who gives everything their all. a/n: writing this was like getting something out of my system. it's difficult for me to share what i write, it always has been. people are always forming attachments, whether that be to other people, things or places. and of course, they hold onto these things tightly. it's difficult to let go of what you love. the actual science behind emotional attachment is complex - although, perhaps not as jumbled as this. neurotransmitters are chemicals that transmit signals in the brain, releasing hormones that strengthen emotional attachment like dopamine, oxytocin etc. straightforward, right? but then you have to take into account memory, past events, what the home you grew up in was like which ultimately influences your attachment style. i wrote this with an attempt to mirror dream structure, which is why there's an abrupt shift in the middle to show the change in dream. whether i succeeded is another matter! i hope you enjoy reading 'the science of never letting go' :)
