-Hannah Robinett- The first one. The odd one out, the one who gets confused, always the aggressive and protective one, the bigger one. The louder one, the funny one. Yeah. That was her, Emily. Really Mari Elizabeth Gomenz, but she got rid of her name after she left Cuba. (The day of Short Story #1) Hyperventilating, she always found herself back here. Sitting at the corner of the field after practice. Her knees to her chest, rocking back and forth slightly, hearing Iris's voice. Feeling the vines wrap around her throat again. She usually had Darling there to calm her down. The vines, thorns, the piercing pain. The scarlet liquid that dripped from above her collarbone. The times she couldn't sleep at night. The hurt she still felt, the bandages she had been hiding, Iris would keep walking by now and run her hand along Emily's arm or something. She would just freeze. Why had she started doing that? Just- Freezing up.. She usually fought back. Was it because Iris was her ex? No... She had beaten up Ashlynn once. What had gone wrong this time? She kept passing out, drifting into dreams, bad ones. But whenever she had the dreams, they happened. What happened with Iris had happened in a dream the night before. Emily hadn't slept in a while by now. The day that the dreams started had been the day Jake died. When she had looked at him, and told him he was the worst kind of person, and he had replied with the words she had taken with a grain of salt until now. "Your dreams should be plagued with the very things you worry about, and then you will be hallucinated to have those daydreams happen to you" Had he cursed her? Didn't she already have enough on her plate?! A demon boy for a best friend, and Depressed Muppet Maker, Trey. For a friend, more like a brother. Then she had to deal with the stupid main character like trauma. Losing her mom in Cuba, and then getting hurt by her entire family except for Jacen who got brain washed!? SHE DIDN'T NEED FRIGGING NIGHTMARE FUEL IN HER LIFE RIGHT NOW! But Jake pretty much threw a bomb at the only peace she had, in her dreams. So Emily resorted to Darling, curling up next to her and being able to actually rest. Darling wasn't here beside her now though. She was alone... How many time had she stared at a bridge and wondered if she would hurt if she left. Not leaving Darling was her only reason for staying. But she was a good friend, a happy friend. A tough friend, the gay friend. All she was to anyone in this world was a friend... She wasn't Emily, she was 'The Buff Mexican Lesbian' which got annoying. She tapped the concrete and breathed shakily, trying to calm down. Then feeling darkness slip in, no no no no. Not another dream. She held herself steady and then fell asleep. A dark room, Iris was walking in; her green eyes seemed to glow in the darkness. She knew this wasn't good, the gut feeling. Then Iris whispered something "Oh Emily~ The strawberry blonde is dead~" Emily instantly woke up from the daydream. Running towards her and Darling's dorm. She saw her girlfriend sitting in bed and ran over, "Hey Ems-" Darling got out before she got wrapped in a bear hug. "You're alive" slipped out of Emily's mouth and Darling hugged her back. "Emily, of course I'm alive" she reasoned. "Have you been sleeping?" she questioned, referring to the slight eyebags Emily had. "Hmph" she grumbled "No... Not really..." she answered, and Darling pulled her down into the bed gently. "Go to sleep Ems" Darling smiled, laying down next to her. Once Emily had curled into Darling, she fell asleep quite fast. Slipping into a dream. Darling standing in a dark room, but it wasn't Darling... It was Misery, pointing a dagger at where Emily was viewing. It was herself, was Misery going to hurt her? No- Please. Misery didn't say anything before she lodged the dagger in Emily's stomach, shoving her to a wall. This wasn't real! It was a dream! But...- It was a daydream. The curse. She sat up in the bed, seeing Darling still asleep. She brushed Darling's hair from her face and covered her in a blanket. She wouldn't hurt Emily right? But.. Emily had been the reason Darling had gotten hurt, plenty of times. Was Darling going to hurt her? Was she going to die? Trey needed her, Jacen, and Ben and- But... They were doing great already, on their own... Nobody needed her, did they? Maybe she should've tested her theory on the bridge... She was useless.
