Hey everyone! Yes, this is pretty late but here goes! Rain stood up on the wobbly legs of a newborn foal, feeling her legs shake under her. She didn’t know why, but she knew what she had to do. Sticking her head at her mother, it took a bit of searching till she found her teats, but when she did she started drinking, her tail swishing in this new world. (Story by Horsilly) Even she couldn’t describe what ancient instinct told her to drink. She didn’t understand this new world, but what she knew was that it was glorious at a first look. Her grey, blanket appaloosa pattern coat shined in the sun as her mother, Storm, licked and nibbled her thoroughly. As her thirst died out, Rain stepped back from Storm to glance around. She tried to step a few steps, managing to do so and whinnying from the pure joy of living. Of standing, walking, breathing, feeling her young heart beat in her chest. Storm, meanwhile, closed her eyes while still standing. Giving birth has tired her out and she was ready for a nap. The herd was close by, not too close, so Rain didn’t imprint on them, but close enough to protect her. Storm felt the eyes of the herd on her foal, but they made no move to approach, knowing this was a moment of privacy between dam and foal. Rain pranced are a bit, practicing moving her hooves and staying upright. Eventually though she lay down next to her mother, ready to sleep. Storm opened her eyes a bit to watch her foal with admiration before she closed them back. And just like that, Rain fell asleep in a new world, with new chances, new dangers, more friends and new adventures awaiting.
