There are many Christians who believe in evolution. This shows it is not necessary to believe that Genesis is literal history to be a Christian. A Christian is simply someone who believe's that 'God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son' and confess Jesus Christ as Lord, believing He has been raised from the dead. Nevertheless, evolution is the reason many atheists give for why they do not believe in God. Richard Dawkins was an Anglican until midway through his teens at which point he became an atheist: 'The main residual reason why I was religious was from being so impressed with the complexity of life and feeling that it had to be a designer, and I think it was when I realised that Darwinism was a far superior explanation the pulled the rug from my feet and I was left with nothing' Many Christians have an emotional reaction to evolution almost amounting to fear. They worry it will undermine the faith, and maybe disprove or dethrone God. They are therefore reluctant to look into the detail's and evaluate the evidence for it. Of course, the reverse is also true (and not just Christians): They accept evolution largely for superficial, cultural reasons without understanding the science. Evolution when boiled down, teaches that 'living beings created themself' (Wolf Gang Smith). Does Evolution actually possess such fantastic creative powers? That depends on two things: a convincing explanation and compelling evidence. Does evolution have a convincing explanation for how such miracles happen, and can it show compelling evidence to prove it has produced such wonders?
This is not proving Evolution it's the opposite. Wait and you will see.
