1990-1997 Patriot Motors Ocelot Originally released in 1990, the Patriot Ocelot was a sporty car intended to compete with imported sports cars, but with an American touch. Offered in a variety of versions with different powerplants available, the Ocelot appealed to many different customer bases. The Ocelot is also heavily inspired by aircraft, with it's "glass-to-glass" greenhouse as well as its wind-cheating body that offers increased downforce and fuel economy. Since the name Ocelot comes from a special cat species, it needed to nimble and fast. Patriot's engineers and tuners delivered, with stiffened suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, traction control, and anti-lock brakes standard on all Ocelot models (yes, even the base version with plastic bumpers!) The Ocelot is no stranger to a trackday, as the GT-S special edition (offered from '93 to '96) offered a 340-horsepower V-8 engine, racing bucket seats, optional 5-point harnesses, bigger brakes, an aero kit, and more which improve performance on the track. Sales were strong throughout most of it's production run, outselling most of the imported competition. It was even sold in decent numbers in Europe! At the end of 1997, Patriot Motors could no longer keep the Ocelot emissions or safety compliant with the design they had, so the model had to be axed. Today, the Ocelot has becomes more of a niche automobile, with only diehard car enthusiasts paying much attention to it. Prices reflect that, as nice Ocelots can still be found for less than $20k USD.
