She woke up panicked. Sitting up, Estelle turns to her bedside table. Somene is calling her. She picks up her phone to see who it is, and of course its a spam call. She’s attempted to go back to sleep, but its 7 am. Her mom would have breakfast made soon anyways, so she got ready for the day. Today they would be shopping for school supplies. Not exactly the epitome of fun. However, knowing that it would be a necessary trip, she ran downstairs once she was ready, the smell of pancakes already wafting upstairs. Estelle sat down at the table. “Hey honey! How did you sleep?” Her mom asked as she put some pancakes and eggs on a plate. “Not bad.” Estelle responded. Look, she knows it’s a boring answer and barely true, but she didn’t really feel like explaining the abnormalities of her subconscious. Especially not to her mom, since she would worry. They were just pointless dreams that ment nothing. No point in adding any useless stress to her mom’s life. “Well that’s good. Today we have school shopping to do. Since school starts tomorrow, you know.” Estelle almost rolled her eyes. Yes, of course she knew school started tomorrow. How could she forget “Yes mom, I'm aware” she responded, her tone bored. “Okay, eat breakfast real quick and then we’ll leave.” Estelle nodded. After a few minutes Estelle finished her breakfast and they went into the car. 10 minutes later they arrived at the store. Estelle and her mom went inside, and almost immediately her mom was pointing to a blue flower pencil case. Estelle followed her mom, passing through many aisles filled with various school supplies. A pack of glue sticks, staples, pens, pencils. Everything one could ever need for their education. How exciting. As she was passing through the aisles, though, she spotted a girl who looked familiar she had black shiny hair and freckles with glasses. Estelle couldn’t place why the girl was familiar, but she just was. Odd. Estelle could probably figure out why they looked familiar if she tried. But she didn’t care for thinking deeply about anything much, unless she had to for school, or in a life threatening situation. Something was telling her seeing a familiar girl in a school supplies store didn’t necessarily count as a threat. Maybe Estelle just saw her in the background at school? That’s probably it. She just went with that idea and moved on with her life. She definitely wasn’t the most perceptive one in her friend group. No, that was River’s territory, and she was planning on keeping it that way. Estelle shook the girl out of her mind and followed her mom to get all her supplies. Honestly, how much of this stuff is she actually going to use? But still, the supply lists told them she needed a lot of miscellaneous items, so her mom bought them. They went back into the car and Estelle got a text Azzy (Well, her name is actually Azalea, but no one calls her that) Estelle got invited to their house for a few hours, as a sort of final bang before school was in again, and they’d have to spend an hour of their day, that was already cut short, doing homework for 5 days a week. Estelle was thinking about what they would do as her mom drove her home, the mysterious girl completely erased from her thoughts for now.
