Built in Spain, the Haddock had 4 main trim levels. Much like the similar era Harkën Heroe, the Haddocks were plasticy but quite well built compared to the French alternatives. The LS and Energy models were most popular, and were both a mid-range entry (the Energy was more focused on luxury however and the LS focused on frugality). One diesel engine was offered, a 1.4 Turbo, but it was quite sluggish so was not a popular choice (it was tuned for fuel economy). Sport models were nothing like the Heroe Sport. Gone was the V6 and in return was the same 1.6 VVT from the Energy. It was revvy but didn't really have enough power to warrant the 'Sport' badge. Information about the trim levels... L: The base model version of the Haddock, not many of these sold as buyers proved more inclined to spend a little more money to get the LS model. The L model was the only version in the range not to include side plastic carpark protection, and also did not include chrome effect window trims, opting for a more basic black plastic. These black plastic window surrounds are now the most sought after part of an 'L' as some people prefer how they look to chrome. Other than that, it's a very boring model with not many left on the roads. Steel wheels. 1.1 engine only. LS:A step up from the L models, the LS includes plastic side carpark protection, chrome effect window trim, as well as a better interior (featuring CD player, radio, isofix all as standard.). This was a very popular model, especially in poorer countries or communities. It provided semi-reliable transport at a very affordable price. There were no 'frills' on the LS, but was a perfectly usable car with a decent 1.4 engine. Energy:This is where the Haddock switched from cheap motoring for the masses, to comfortable motoring for the elderly. The name is ironic, considering the average buyer for this spec would only have enough energy to go to B&M Bargains to look through the reduced biscuit section. Painted door handles, front foglights and a revvy 1.6 16v engine are just the start of what makes this model more refined than the L & LS. The interior has a focus on comfort, and has completely different seats front and rear to the lower models. Sport:The sport model features the same 16v 1.6 engine as the Energy. In fact, it features nearly everything the same as the Energy. The main differences are the fact that this Sport model is limited to 1000 units per country. Also, it has side decals, and half-red half-black cloth upholstery on the seats. Manual only. Some funky wheels styled after the Harken Sympa's alloys are included too which are very sought after today... Mostly by chavs with clapped out modified Harken (HATCHBACK)'s. -
