American Republic of Middle California: 1. it is roughly the size of Jamaica 2. Council dictatorship 3. A republic formed through a union of counties still remaining loyal to the ways and beliefs of the old United States. Once a relatively small government bunker before the war it rose to regional importance, after the governor of California took shelter there after the evacuation of Sacramento shortly before the war began. As it lost contact with all other bases in the United States the governor of California assumed the presidency and began planning for the reconstruction of the United States. It was planned that the reconstruction and reunification of the entire western united states be led from the bunker. But the bunker all though well stocked and prepared to weather the nuclear winter simply lacked the manpower and resources to make any major moves. After the dust had settled the aggressive nature of the country and its unwavering belief that it was and would always be the only continuity of the United States led it into multiple regional conflicts which it slowly over the course of some years managed to win but with unnecessary loss of life causing many to see it as not a liberating force but as a oppressor state. As the rapid expansion settled the 47th president of the late United States ended with it dying from cancer at 51 after he passed there was seen to be no feasible way to conduct a vote for a new president, silently slipping the United States into a council dictatorship largely led by the military. Over the years the name "United States" has fallen out of use. Now the country is commonly referred to as the "American Republic of Middle California" or just "Middle Cali" and with it any pipedreams of one day becoming the full 50 states once again. The country is both a regional power and one of the most efficient producer of produce as it still maintains a large amount of pre-war technologies. 4. largely humans but both mutants and robots are made use of as labour. 5. on the map 6.
