20 Questions for Writers! (To Make You Think Hard) Answered by @QuirkyCrescent11 :3 1. Q: What got you interested in writing? A: Reading other books 2. Q: Did you always like writing? A: Yes! I can't think if a time I didn't want to write :) 3: Q: What is the story that has just been sitting around in your brain, waiting to come to life? Is it just a vague idea that catches your heart, or is it already an elaborate story? A: I have so so so many! Most stories I think of just sit in my brain and I never actually write them. I have one though that I absolutely LOVE the characters to, but I haven't exactly built the world if you get what I mean. It's about two teenagers with similar back stories, who enter a mysterious door that leads them to a world where they must help restore an ancient kingdom called Aurelia with the help of an old prophetess by protecting it's heir, a young princess. With that they must decide who to trust, and whether or not to trust the suspicious man, Vaylo. 4. Q: What makes a story catch your heart? A: usually the characters, or the deep meaning found under the surface. 5. Q: Do you think that there's a pattern that all good stories follow, or are they all different? A: every good story needs these three things: (1) A character you are rooting for/protagonist (2) A problem that needs to be solved (3) Something or someone that tries to stop the problem from being solved (- S.D. Smith) 6. Q: Did you ever cry over your own writing? Laugh over it? Shiver over it? A: definitely! that's what makes it good :) 7. Q: What do you despise in stories? A: when scenes move on to fast, you can't enjoy them that way :\ 8. Q: What makes a story bad (in your opinion)? A: Zero character growth, when the characters learn nothing from their story. That way people who read it learn nothing and the story is just there to entertain them. 9. Q: Which is more important in a story: emotional depth, or an interesting plot? A: Emotional Depth 10. Q: Is there a specific thing your stories tend to center around? (Ex: setting, personality of character, genre, etc.) A: An unlikely character finding their purpose 11. Q: Do you plan to become an author someday? A: Definitely! I mean, I plan to publish a book someday... 12. Q: If so, how do you think authors can influence the world for good by their writing? A: This question makes me think of C.S. Lewis. He wrote one of the most inspiring series in the whole world, The Chronicles of Narnia. He influenced so many people by creating the world of Narnia, for me he strengthened my courage and even my faith! By looking up to inspiring authors like him you can inspire your own readers in the same way! 13. Q: What are your favorite themes (morals or messages) in stories? A: Courage, confidence, finding your purpose. 14. Q: What are the cliches you hate the most? A: "And they all lived happily ever after" 15. Q: Is there a way to make those cliches not so bad? Do you think you could do it if you set out to try? A: Idk? Not every story ends with a "happily ever after." I've never actually ended a story yet so I can't really say the best say to end a story, but I know it will not always end perfectly. 16. Q: What is the genre you hate the most? A: Maybe horror? Idk really, I enjoy all genres. 17. Q: What if you tried to write it? What would happen? A: I'd probably do either really bad and hate it, or do really good and still hate it XD 18. Q: What makes a character lovable? A: Their unique personality, their back stories, or how much you can relate to them 19. Q: Is it possible for a non-lovable character to make you care deeply about them? A: Absolutely! Almost all my favorite characters from other books are the most hated or the most ignored. Being unlovable is what makes them lovable! 20. Q: How can you make your story touch your reader and impact their life? A: With relatable characters, deep hidden meaning and messages, Idk I haven't got that far. Right now I just look up to inspiring authors who have impacted my life, like C.S. Lewis and Jenny L. Cote, and hope to be like them one day! "Don't let anyone tell you you're too young to publish a book!" - Jenny Cote Thanks Julia! I really needed to think hard <3 All questions by Music by
