Name:Pulvisfolium Alias:smokeworm Niche:chemotroph Evolved from:N/A Description: Smokeworms reside close to hydrothermal vents, and conduct chemosynthesis at a macro scale. Their sizes vary enormously, with the smallest being nearly microscopic while they could technically grow indefinitely(though in practice they are typically restrained by resources and can grow smaller if they must). They are typically sedentary but can become mobile through growing appendages. How many they grow typically depends on resource abundance, and often times they will go their entire lives without moving even once. They appendages can be used to reproduce, where it splits off several appendages into a new smokeworm. They are capable of “scavenging” corpses for more energy, though this rarely ever happens. They typically have two “scrapers” which they use to interact with their environment. These scrapers have hard growths on their ends, and can be used to help split off new buds, or collect resources(typically sulfur and corpses) from their environment. If they run a resource deficit they will grow smaller by refusing to repair or replace damaged or dead cells, and if they are desperate enough they will cut off their own appendages and use them for fuel.
