(if names changes are allowed ofc) Gender: female Pronouns: she/her Age: teenager (in cats years) ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ Personality: witty, impulsive, inquisitive, humorous, colder and way less empathetic then she used to be when she was younger. She has lots of anxiety caused by something traumatic she experienced, yet does a very good job at hiding it. She also deals with lots of self-hatred and unresolved grief and frustration, yet bottles it all up as she feels like revealing emotions like those will make her appear weak and therefore cause her to be looked down upon. ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ Where: horizon has lived in the deepest parts of the ocean all her life, living amongst other deep-sea cats. when she was younger, she lived in a massive group of underground interconnected tunnels and caves. however, after a certain event, she moved to live in a gigantic fortress out in the open ocean. ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ Abt the way i drew her!!: -i made her eyelashes extra big because i kinda wanted them to give mystical sea creature typa vibes, and adaptation wise theyd also help keep particles/sand out of her eyes -her nose is flat to also keep particles/sand out -if i were to draw her with her mouth open she’d have lots of sharp teeth, just like an angler fish!! also making her a deadly opponent in battle -i tried to make the fur around her face flowy looking and kinda like the fins on a fish! ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ Design changes!! (can all be edited and returned to normal if not approved of ofc) -added a couple extra pattern details on her tail -added the fur around her face -added the eyelashes ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ Message to CHIFLE08: hii, i rlly hope you like my entry!! ^^ I havent experimented with light source shading like this before, so if the shading doesnt exactly make sense, thats why! Overall i really enjoyed making this, and her design is absolutely gorgeous! Ive been thinking up a backstory through out the whole time ive been drawing her, and i even made a folder on tiktok for songs which remind me of her hahah If i were to win (prob a slim chance since there are so so so many talented artists who have entered this dta), shes most definitely going to be the star of many animation memes i make, i can already think of so many which would suit her perfectly! Thanks so much for putting this dta out there and giving so many people including myself the opportunity to have a shot at winning and allowing us to all have so much fun drawing your designs!! <3 PS: aaa sorry that i wrote so much!! all of this has gotta be longer then my english essay hehe ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ now behold.. the insanely long backstory that i had to start here because it doesnt fit..!! -> WARNING: lots and lots and lots and lotsssss of writing (sorry abt that!!) her name used to be angler, yet she changed it after a certain event. the part of the deepsea she lived in was cut-throat and dangerous, yet angler thrived. she had always been skilled in stealth, making it easy for her to creep into and across different caves and tunnels which she wasn’t supposed to enter. however, angler would usually not do this alone, and was accompanied by her best friend vamp (all the cats who live within the deep sea are part cat and part deep sea creature, vamp is part vampire squid). The two were inseparable, getting into all kinds of trouble yet never getting caught. While they loved taking risks more then anything, their favorite place to visit was a storyteller who was hundreds of years old. she’d tell them many stories, yet both angler and vamp’s favorite was called ‘The Horizon.’ It was a story of a massive orb of light, named ‘The Flarerix’, which at times glowed the same shade of orange as angler’s eyes (or so the storyteller said) and would sink beneath the waves to welcome another orb, named the ‘The Cosmoex’, which shone rays the same shade of silver as vamp’s eyes. both angler and vamp loved the story so much, they even gave each other nicknames after it: angler was flare, and vamp was cosmo. One day, when they were older, angler decided she wanted to see the horizon for herself. Most cats called the storyteller crazy, yet angler believed every word. vamp, who had believed the stories when he was younger, didn’t believe in them so much now. however angler was very eager to see the horizon, and vamp cared about his friend a lot and was willing to do almost anything if it meant making her happy, so it didn’t take much convincing for him to agree to follow angler’s plan. angler intended to wait for the cats of the caves to quiet down, sneak out of the tunnels to the open waters, then keep swimming upwards until the ‘water’s began to lighten’ as the storyteller said they would. while the open waters had always been known to be dangerous, they were even more so now. - a large group of cats had joined into one force to take over the deep sea, planning to seize control of every civilization and kill anyone who got in their way. not much was known about them except that they were incredibly powerful. beside that being the main threat, the open waters were also filled with puritiys. while most of these were passive creatures like small fish, there were also rumored to be more dangerous creatures lurking in the area. angler, being rather reckless, didn’t think too far ahead. She thought, since her and vamp were so good at sneaking around the caves, sneaking about the open waters shouldn’t be too big of a challenge either. She turned out to be gravely mistaken. When angler and vamp first emerged from the caves, they were too in awe to consider their lives could be at risk. They were so mesmerized by how cool the dark and inky empty waters around them were, they didn’t look close enough to realize the waters actually werent as empty as they believed they were. Vamp, after a few moments, felt like something was off, felt like something just wasnt right. He spoke up about it, but angler foolishly dismissed his concern, assuring him he was just feeling paranoid because it was both of their first times being out of the tunnels. As they kept swimming, vamp kept speaking up, saying he had a bad feeling, saying this wasnt a good idea, how dangerous it could be, and eventually he said he wanted to go back. Angler, still shaken up and in a bad mood from a massive argument she’d had with her mother a couple hours ago, was quick to become irritated and told him to go back by himself, that she found him and his complaints annoying right now and didnt want to see him for the rest of the day. When he didnt want to leave her by herself, she assured him she would only go a little further, to see if she could spot anything interesting, and then head back as well. Vamp still looked overly anxious, which was generally out of character for him, and he asked if angler could accompany him back. Thinking he was trying to just trick her into going home, she snapped, growling a few hurtful things at him, and then swimming off. She instantly felt guilty for what she’d said, knowing it was uncalled for, and was thinking up an apology, when only around 20 seconds later she heard a yowl of terror, and recognized it to be vamp. Instantly panicking at the sound of him in extreme distress, she swam in the direction she had heard it, however she was too late. Angler caught up to her friend only to find a giant squid had wrapped its tendril around his back leg.. and ripped it off his body right in front of her eyes. This wasnt a normal giant squid, it was a mutation. The ends of its tendrils had blackened and hardened into long dagger like spikes, and it had sharp teeth sticking out all over its body. Mutations had only been seen from a distance by hunters, no one had ever gotten.. this.. close. For angler everything happened in slow motion, she was frozen in horror, limbs stiff. there was nothing she could do, she was miniscule compared to the squid. Vamp’s struggles to escape only made the situation worse. The squid let go of him with one tentacle, pulling back, and for a brief moment angler thought the squid would let him go. But no, the squid had only pulled back its tentacle to gain momentum, so it could drive it straight through vamp’s neck. The water went from an inky black to a deep red. And then the squid disappeared, back into the depths, taking vamp with it. wrap up bc scratch is mean: she returns home, begs for search parties and is mocked for asking and shunned by even her own mother for her mistake, her mother disowns her and shes forced back into the open waters, gets chased by a frilled shark but injures it n escapes, gets knocked out, wakes up in a throne room like setting in the fortress of the force taking over the deep sea, they say since shes young and has no where to go and nothing to live for they'll take her in and train her to be their future duelist, she changes her name from angler to horizon. as for vamp eventually she comes to terms that he’s dead, and does her best to move on, yet still struggles from frequent flashbacks of the memory of his death. Whenever the memory resurfaces in angler’s mind, she always hears screaming. She doesnt know if the screams belonged to vamp, or to herself, or if it was the sound her mind was making, crying for her body to move and do something. But is he really dead, or was he actually saved by the main rivaling open water civilization with advanced technology, who’s also training him to be a duelist? Only time will tell! So so srry for the yapping, I wanted to write so much more but i wont put you through that haha More then happy to answer any questions anyone has on the lore, theres a lot i didnt cover!! -glossary- . Puritys: sea creatures which arent part cat. . Mutations: puritys which have been tainted by chemicals i hate word limits aaa
