On Thursday, 8/29/24, Johnny Gaudreau, 31, and his brother, Matthew (29), were killed by a drunk driver while biking at around 8pm. Johnny Hockey, as Johnny was called, played 11 years in the NHL. Nine with the Calgary Flames, then his last 2 with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was a 7-time all-star.
Johnny was one of the best players in the entire NHL. He got 234 goals and 500 assists over his great career. His brother Matthew played in the ECHL. They were in New Jersey for their sister, Katie, was going to have a wedding. it was canceled due to the tragedy. Rest In Peace to the legend, Johnny Gaudreau.
