ok attempt 2 -- hope the project can work for more than 10 minutes on scratch's cloud server this time NOTICE: if you are signed out or still have "new scratcher" status then this project (and any other cloud projects) will not be usable. you may attempt to play the project through turbowarp if you wish please note that turbowarp and scratch players cannot connect to each other. ==== links ==== turbowarp: https://turbowarp.org/1062501293/ ===== project instructions ===== click + to create a room, or join an existing room if there is any (up to 4 players). once the timer ends, the game will start. this may take several seconds. when playing a game: the left/right arrows at the bottom is the "exchange tiles" button. the double-down arrows button returns any tiles you placed at once to your rack the "PASS" button will skip your turn ===== scrabble instructions ===== the objective of the game is to use your letter tiles to create words, and score points. whichever player has the most points at the end is the winner. each player starts the game with 7 randomly chosen tiles in a bag of 100 tiles. on your turn, you may attempt to use your tiles to form an (allowed) English word, connecting it in a horizontal or vertical line to something that is already on the board. the very first player to play must play a word which covers the center tile. you must put all tiles in a single straight line when you make a play, and the play must not create any disconnected regions of tiles. if your play creates multiple words, then ALL words created must be valid. if you have a blank tile, you may play it as any letter you wish. when placing a blank tile, the project will prompt you to select a letter it will represent. after a blank tile is successfully played, the letter may not be changed. blank tiles play for 0 points. if you do not want to play or cannot play any tiles on your turn, you may use your turn to exchange some or all of your tiles with tiles in the bag instead. do this by clicking on the button with left and right arrows when it is selectable. exchanging tiles ends your turn, scoring 0 points. alternatively, you may simply pass your turn, also scoring 0 points. ==== scoring ==== when you have successfully made a play, it will be scored as follows: 1. each letter tile has a point value shown in the bottom right corner of the tile. the score for a play is the total sum of the tile values of every new word created in the play, plus any bonuses. for example, if you play "CAT", it will have a score of 3+1+1 = 5 points. every word is counted separately, even if part of the word uses the same tiles as another word. (a complete table of every tile's frequency and point value is listed at the end of this text) 2. "premium squares" add additional bonuses to your score, so try to take advantage of them. there are 4 kinds of premium squares, and the bonuses only apply the First time a tile gets played on them, after which they count only as a normal letter space. - DL - double letter, any tile placed on this for the first time has its value doubled. - TL - triple letter, any tile placed on this for the first time has its value tripled - DW - double word, any tile placed on this for the first time has the scores of any words it is part of doubled - TW - triple word, any tile placed on this for the first time has the scores of any words it is part of tripled. when counting multiple bonuses, the letter premiums are applied first, then the word premiums afterwards. word bonuses stack. for example, if a single word manages to cover two separate DW spaces, the score of that word is quadrupled. a blank tile covering a letter bonus is still worth 0 points. however, blank tiles placed on word bonuses will count towards the word bonus. once the bag reaches below 7 tiles, exchanging is no longer permitted. once the bag reaches 0 tiles, then the game will end when either 1. one player uses up all of their tiles, or 2. everyone passes consecutively enough times. the remaining players’ score gets subtracted by the sum of value of the tiles still unplayed. if one player uses all of their tiles, their score will also get increased by the sum of the value of everyone else’s unplayed tiles. ==== list of tile distributions and point amounts ==== A(1) x9 B(3) x2 C(3) x2 D(2) x4 E(1) x12 F(4) x2 G(2) x3 H(4) x2 I(1) x9 J(8) x1 K(5) x1 L(1) x4 M(3) x2 N(1) x6 O(1) x8 P(3) x2 Q(10) x1 R(1) x6 S(1) x4 T(1) x6 U(1) x4 V(4) x2 W(4) x2 X(8) x1 Y(4) x2 Z(10) x1 [blank](0) x2
