tw: mild cussing! The feeling slowly faded away but the confusion didn't. Like her brain had been left numb. Confused. Or as her family liked to say “confuzzled” Next class, she took out her computer and started researching. Most sights said she was crazy but one of them in particular caught her eye. “ A Phantom shift?” She found it on a site labeled “Therian Wiki.” Claire had NO idea what a Therian was. She’s heard people talk about them. Gossip. Ridicule. But she never knew why. She started looking at some things until something just clicked. Like her soul was being put together. Like the world had just come together and she understood everything. Everything about herself. She’d always felt different to the world. Whether it was her slight autism or the fact that she'd been known as a “Prodigy child” all her life. But this was her. She didn’t know what she was but she knew she was different. Her parents, her teachers, and the kids around her knew that. But she wasn't the stereotypical weird kid. She loved skincare makeup. Going shopping with her friends. Almost normal. Were the dreams she’d been having about being a ferret mean something? The trees around her the wind blowing through her black and white fur. Almost had a sense of familiarity. Home. She knew dreams had meaning. Her mom was pagan so she grew up being connected to the universe and pagan history her whole life. She knew that dreams had meaning. Like it was the universe trying to reach out to her. She also knew that ever since she was born she's shown animalistic behaviors. Whether it was the fact she made animal noises since almost the day she came out of the womb. Or the fact she learned how to walk on all fours before she could stand. Or maybe it was that feeling. The aching feeling she got every day where she felt like she was in the wrong body. That this wasn't who she was.
