Soot has a busy month ahead- as my only current showjumper, he'll be in a lot of shows, so I wanted to prepare. *WARNING* I know absolutely nothing about horse training, I did some brief research, but this is by no means completely accurate First, I got him out of the paddock and tacked him up in the arena. our tack and washrooms are a mess right now (since we just redid the barn) so it seemed easier. After tacking up, I lay some poles on the ground. Soot tends to get ahead of himself, and isn't too aware of where his feet are, so I thought it would be a good warm-up. He did pretty good, so I moved on to real jumps. ***Ahhh this was supposed to be so much longer but my motivation went *poof* this was what I was planning for the rest: **** I set up a course and began to ride around the arena. first was a pretty small jump. Soot jumped over it easily but was a little impatient. Apparently, he needed a real "challenge". We moved around the arena, completing increasingly larger jumps. On the last one he knocked off a bar, so we went again, and this time he did it perfectly! I'm definitely optimistic about his chances of winning a show. So that's my first training update- I don't know much about horses, so I would value any feedback!
making this was *ahem* i n t e r e s t i n g @-0-giddyup-0- for Soot @Jumping-Rodeo for the absolutely amazing pasture bg! @unknown for his tack everything else by me I adapted Soot to be standing and it's a situation...
