Chapter 3 I froze in my position, staring at it and wondering about what to say. “And who are you? Are you one of the Nights people? Are you an ally of our army? Are you trying to take over planet Fluff?” I just stared. The expression on the cat’s face changed from calm to surprised and slightly horrified. Screw this. I ran off, opened the door and ran through, making sure to shut it tightly. I made it to my room just in time to hear a ring. I turned transparency on in the room and stared outside. I saw my dad in the cube-plane waving an envelope at me and screaming for me to go outside. I ran downstairs. “Congratulations, Diana! You got invited to join the Youth Coding Club!!!” “That’s nice,” I said. The Youth Coding Club for Future World-Changers through Technology is only like the most supreme worldwide coding club ever in the whole world. I went back upstairs to finish my schoolwork for the day. My digital instructor sends me schoolwork everyday, and I finish and send them back to her holographically. Unfortunately, right now, not much is holographic yet, which is a shame considering that laptops and phones and computers are literally ANCIENT. They’ve been here for thousands of years. Of course, before doing my work, I need to eat something first. I pressed the food button on the 3d printer and got a burger and some milk. Sadly, food is ancient, too. I can’t believe no scientist has invented a way to make us cyborgs yet. If they can make being able to print anything, teleporting (for the rich only), and invisibility cloaks and robot-servants, why can’t they just make us all cyborgs?! It would certainly make my life a whole lot easier. Printing food all day is soooo boring boring BORING. I resist the urge to start working and chew on my burger first. It’s awful, but I need the energy. I drink the milk afterwards, too. It’s even more awful. It’s liquid. I don’t like liquid. I usually eat ice instead of drink water. Liquid just feels wrong on my tongue and throat. Finally, I connect my laptop to the holographic device. I turn it on, and finish my work. I submit it and turn my laptop and device off. I finally get to rest for a while. Just then, my dad calls me from downstairs in the kitchen to help my little brother with his schoolwork because he was busy. That’s just annoying. When I FINALLY get to rest from all the book-finding and food-printing and schoolwork-doing, now I have to help my little brother with his schoolwork?? But then again, he’s only seven, and he’s not very good with technology just yet. I sigh, get up, and go downstairs to the living room. I see my brother sitting cross-legged on the sofa, with his laptop and holographic device on the table next to the sofa. I connect the two and turn the device on. An app flashes in the hologram, called 1 2 3 Number Learning. I click it on the laptop and his work comes up. I hand him the laptop and leave him there to do his schoolwork. I was halfway up the stairs when I heard him yell, “Diana! Help me with my homework!” I sigh and go back to the living room. “What’s wrong?! You can do that! You’re seven!” “But.. I need help with the math in my schoolwork. It’s hard,” he explains. I sigh again. How is simple addition and subtraction “hard”?! I take a look at the hologram. It seems like he’s supposed to click on the answer to the equation. On the hologram it reads: 5 + 5 . It has two choices: 10 and 8. I can’t believe this. “It’s just addition, Anakin. You can do that easily. Just add five and five together,” I say. “But I can’t add them. How do I add?” I decide to show him how, old-school. I show him all the fingers on my left hand. “These are five fingers,” He nods. I show him all the fingers on my right hand. “These are also five fingers,” He nods. I put my hands next to each other. “Count all of these,” “One, two, three.. nine ten,” Yes. “And what?” he asks. “What d’you mean? That’s 5 + 5 = 10.” “But how?” “5 fingers and 5 fingers make 10 fingers,” I explain. “How?” “1 2 3 4 5 fingers. 1 2 3 4 5 fingers. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 fingers,” “HOW?” “1 finger. 2 finger. 3 finger… 10 finger. 2 sets of 5 fingers make 10.” “HOW?!” By this point I’d already stomped out of the living room in frustration and went up to my room and slammed the door. I lie on my bed and take my actual rest. Soft and smooth. Ahhh.. relaxing. I was about to fall asleep for real when I heard screaming downstairs.
Chapter 4 I quickly grabbed my phone and jumped under the covers. I turned off the sound and opened the meme app, most unnoticable thing on that device. After looking at all of new memes since yesterday, I checked the time. It has been 2 hours. The coast must be clear. I peeped at the down floor and what do you think I saw? Captain Cutie was talking with a green dog with an enormous tail, lots of fur and little horns. The dog was looking like it would be extremely dangerous to miss anything the cat says. Quiet music was coming from the cupboard. Mum was listening to a voice message from our family doctor saying that Anakin should visit the psychiatrist. Dad was searching for something on his phone, looking unaware of the chaos around him. I tried to call the elevator, but it was broken. I had to use the stairs. Stairs are also ancient. Untill today, I was wondering why we had them in our house. While I was sneaking to the cupboard, mum started trying to fix her internet. The cupboard went open. I knew it! Anakin was hiding in there, listening to music to calm himself down. I climbed in to sit with him. "What is that thing?" - he asked. "A character from a book" "A character from a what?" I thought for a bit and said: "I don't know how to explain" "Why isn't it back in the buh... Beb... Whatever you said? It has been 3 weeks, it should be back by now" "It has been 2 hours" Anakin opened his mouth to say something, but got interuppted by Cutie. "There you are!" - they said. "You must go talk to miss Jellybean, the safety inspector. She will know if you are one of Nights supporters. Go!" We followed Captain Cutie and came to the green dog. She greeted us with the brightest smile I ever saw. I couldn't help but to smile back. Then miss Jellybean sniffed us. "We can trust these creatures" - she declared. "Follow me" - said Cutie. But Anakin would not. He opened his phone, sighed and ran up to mum screaming "the creatures want something from me!" "Can't you see I'm trying to get the Internet connection back?" - asked mum, making my brother sad. "But..." - said Anakin, holding back tears. "No buts except yours on the sofa, with your eyes in one of your devices!" yelled mum. Sobbing, lil bro sat down and opened his laptop. When he saw a dark screen, the sobbing became a cry. "Come on!" reminded of themself Captain Cutie. "Why isn't my device working?!" - asked my parents and my brother in unison. I just grabbed Anakins arm and followed the creatures. They led us to the attic. The book was lying open on the floor. Miss Jellybean pointed on it and said "That's how everyone from back home got here. Everyone." I realized something and asked: "And captain Night too?" Jellybean nodded and invited us to sit on the floor next to her. "Long ago" - she stared telling us - "planet Fluff was very peaceful. Animals of allcolours and shapes and sizes lived there, having no enemies, just friends. And then other planets stared invading. We had to create a army. We destroyed many captains, we showed their people no mercy, but we didn't like that a bit. So we never attacked first. No enemy captain survied us untill 10 years ago. That was when captain Night from the planet Slime first attacked. We fought like never before, but somehow, she lived. Night keeps atacking us using new weapons every time. This time, she brought the most powerful weapons of all. Hate and fear. Pitch, black darkness taking over hearts, hiding in corners and devouring everything. We don't know how to stop it. And today, I saw Night coming out of this book with two jars filled with her weapons. This world is in danger." I hugged Anakin, who was shaking of fear. This was bad. This was really bad.
