Very creative name, I know. It might change lol Anyway, here’s the first chapter of my alterhuman story! Let me know what you think (be honest- but don’t be mean, I want CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.) Jaiden flipped through a book on wild cats. She was looking for one species in particular- one that was incredibly important to her. She glanced at the pages of photos- tigers, leopards, lions, blah blah blah. Where WAS it? Finally, she found it. The kodkod, the smallest wild cat native to the americas. She smiled as she traced her finger along the spine of the little creature in the photo. She had always felt very drawn to kodkods, researching everything about them and drawing them all the time. Jaiden was a therian, and her theriotype was a kodkod. After staring at the page for a few minutes, lost in thought, Jaiden heard her phone buzz. She picked it up and glanced at the text from her friend Raine. (Raine :D) Gurl where are you?? The bus is coming in like 5 mins and ur still not here!! Crap. Jaiden forgot she had school today. Both of her moms were already at work, so there was no one to remind her to get ready. (Jaiden <3) I lost track of time!! :(( be there soon dw pooks <333 She hit send, then quickly grabbed her bag, put on her shoes, and ran out the door to the bus stop. She ended up arriving just as the bus was closing the doors. “Wait!” she shouted, waving the bus driver down. He gave her an annoyed look and reluctantly opened the doors. “That’s the third time this week, Winters, and it’s only Wednesday!” he said, giving her a stern glare. Jaiden tried to smile. “Sorry sir. I’ll do better tomorrow.” “That’s what you always say,” the bus driver muttered. Jaiden sighed and made her way down the aisle, looking for Raine. She spotted her, and quickly went to sit down next to her- only to find someone else already sitting there. Raine looked at her with an apologetic smile. “Sorry Jay, I’m sitting with Emily today.” Jaiden tried not to let her disappointment show. ‘It’s not a big deal,’ she told herself. ‘It’s just a seat on a bus. It’s not like she’s avoiding you, or doesn’t want to be friends anymore, right?’ Instead, she tried to smile at her friend. “No, yeah, it’s okay,” she said. Raine gestured to the seats behind her. “I bet there’s at least one seat open back there,” she said sweetly. “Winters! Hurry up and sit down!” the bus driver yelled. Jaiden sighed and continued down the aisle. She sat down in the first open seat she saw, trying to pretend she didn’t hear Raine and Emily whispering and giggling together a few rows up. The girl sitting next to her was staring out the window, her gaze unfocused. Jaiden fiddled with her theta delta necklace. ‘Well this is awkward,’ she thought. She remained silent for the rest of the ride. As the bus stopped, the girl beside her seemed to come back to reality. She looked at Jaiden, seeming apprehensive and a bit afraid. Jaiden was confused at first, until she saw the other girl’s tail. Okay so sorry if that was long and confusing and boring. Basically Jaiden Winters is a closeted therian and her friend Raine doesn’t know. Jaiden ended up sitting next to some new girl who seems afraid of being judged for wearing a tail (also Jaiden is the only therian at her school that she knows of) Next: Prev: Nuh uh First: Ur here
