Previous chapter: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1061010171 No TW's here either unless you count falling. AH lets go you finally get to meet Wilbur's family.this is a plot . also im going to be updating this on the schedule of every Wednesday around noonish so yeah. Story: Friday rolled around pretty quickly for Ember. But maybe it was just because he wasn’t thinking about it. Between his roommate being out almost every night, and everything that went down with the villains. It felt like Ember had to much to think about and not enough time. Friday started out as any regular day would. Ember got up, went to work, talked with Wilbur, finished up his shift, then got his stuff ready to go as Wilbur put his phone in his pocket. “ready?” they asked. Ember nodded. Wilbur opened the door and let Ember put first before following behind him. “so we’re meeting them at the sweets bakery right?” Ember asked following Wilbur. “as far as I’m aware yes, but I wouldn’t put it past them to show up somewhere else as a joke”. Wilbur said. “do they do that often?”. “you would be surprised, how much they do it”. Wilbur looked down at Ember with a little smile. Ember wasn’t sure if it was just a friendly gesture, or if it paired with the last thing Wilbur had said. The two of them made it to the bakery faster than Ember had expected, but it wasn’t like it was far away from the library. Wilbur walked up to the building. “I don’t think their here yet” they said leaning their back against the brick wall close to the alleyway that separated the bakery from the building next to it Wilbur pulled out their phone. “BOO” said a girl as she jumped out the alleyway. Wilbur jumped, almost dropping his phone, while Embers muscles only stiffened. The girl started laughing at Wilbur’s reaction to her effortless scare. “Willow, What the heck, what was that” Wilbur asked a little annoyed. “ you should have seen your face” Willow said in between her laughs. And Ember couldn’t help but giggling at Wilbur’s reaction either. “why did you jump like that” Ember asked in between laughs. Wilbur started to say something but was cut of by the deep laugh of a man who also walked out the alleyway. Wilbur waited for the laughing to die down a bit before saying. “that was kind of pointless”. “maybe, but it was pretty funny” Willow responded. “you jumped like a girl” Ember said starting to laugh again. “I did not” Wilbur objected. “yes you did”. Willow said. “ok kids, that’s enough” the man, who Ember assumed was Wilbur and Willow’s father said. And with that they all calmed down and went inside. “see I knew you were going to do that” Wilbur said as the four of them walked over to a near by table. “but you still jumped anyways” Willow replied. They all sat down and Willow immediately asked. “so your Ember”. Ember nodded, as he realized her voice had something that made it just a little annoying. “ nice to meet you, I’m Willow” she said. Willows brown hair was longer than Wilbur’s hair which was in a ponytail all except for he bit that hung over their eyes. Unlike Wilbur’s hair which was more puffy, Willow’s hair was strait. “so who’s the older sibling” Ember asked. “I am” Wilbur said. “by like two seconds” Willow scoffed. Oh so they were twins, Ember thought. As the two of them started arguing, their father just shook his head. “just to think their two years older than you, and you’re the better behaved one” he joked. “I wouldn’t say that” Ember said. Their father chuckled, “you can call me, Axel” he said. Ember noticed Axel’s necklace had a black stone on the end of it. Axel brown eyes were softer than Ember was expecting, but maybe because the only fathers eyes he had seen up to that point was his own fathers, which were always hard and hostile. “ok you two that’s enough” Axel said breaking up the argument between Wilbur and Willow. It was only shortly after when they got their sweets. And Ember devoured his dessert just like he did the first time and looked up to see all of them looking at him. “you were right, Wilbur” Willow said. “he is like a raccoon”. “I’m not a raccoon”. Ember said. “yeah, you are” Wilbur said. Ember crossed his arms “well at least I’m not a dramatic nerd like you” he said before stick his tongue out at Wilbur. Sure it was a little childish but Ember couldn’t help it. Wilbur rolled his eyes. And Willow let out a little laugh
.(story continued) O O O It was another dark night when Ember started his walk home. Wilbur’s family had been quite enjoyable to be around. They knew how joke and have fun. But they also knew when to get stuff done. Ember hadn’t gone looking for any trouble that night, he really hadn’t. but he should have known trouble would land right in front of him and give a over dramatic bow. “it has been awhile hasn’t it” Orpheus said. “its been longer for you than it has been for me” Ember mumbled rolling his eyes. “yeah well this time your not meeting me with a bullet stuck in the back of my head”. Ember hummed. “like this is so much more appealing” he said. Orpheus seemed unphased by his remark and grabbed Ember by the wrist and started running dragging Ember behind them. “what the heck?” Ember said alarmed. “I want to show you something” Orpheus said not even turning to look at Ember. Ember huffed as he let Orpheus drag him around the city. At least where they were going wasn’t that far. “we’re here” Orpheus said. Ember looked up at the tall building in front of them. “it’s a skyscraper, there are millions of them what so special about this one?”. Ember asked. “it the tallest one in the city” Orpheus said. “and?”. “well let me just show you”. Orpheus said grabbing Ember’s arm again and leading them to the backside of the skyscraper, where their was a ladder. Orpheus started to climb up the latter. “no, not happening” Ember said. Ember would rather die than be up that high. Which could kill him anyways if he feel off. He did not like heights, and even though he had never really been up too high before, he didn’t need to, to know he didn’t like it. “what?” Orpheus asked looking down at Ember. “I’m not going up there” he said. Why did Orpheus have to do this to him. Did Orpheus know? No he couldn’t have the only people he had told was Fletcher, and well Wilbur. It had come up in one of their talks. O O O “have you even been up high enough to know” Wilbur had asked. “well no”. “then how do you know you don’t like it”. “I just don’t”. “that’s insanity, I’ll have to show sometime”. O O O Ember recalled their talk. “why not?” Orpheus asked before jumping down off the ladder. “I don’t like heights” Ember replied. Orpheus looked back the skyscraper “have you even been up that high?” he asked. “no”. “so you can’t say you don’t like them”. “I don’t need to be up that high to know I don’t like it". Ember looked back at the ladder. “it’s worth it I promise” Orpheus said. “I’ll even stay behind you to make sure you don’t fall”. “no way” Ember said. Orpheus sighed. “ok, if you hate it that much, I won’t force you to” they said backing up and starting to walk away. Ember looked back at the ladder. “well, if you promise me it’ll be ok” he said. Orpheus perked up and turned around. “yeah I think I can promise that” they said after a moment. Ember wasn’t doing it for them, he was doing it for himself, to prove to himself and everyone that he wasn’t just over thinking it. Orpheus signaled for Ember to go first. Ember shoved all the fear into his stomach and grabbed the first rod of the ladder, then the next, then the next. And he stared climbing up, forcing himself not to look down. When he got halfway up he felt himself almost slip, but was able to stable himself before he fell. Now he was so close to the top only one rod away. But as soon as he grabbed the rod and put his wait on it, it snapped and Ember felt himself falling and he shut his eyes tight. Notes: Haha. I'm leaving you on a cliffhanger >:D Wilbur's family let's go, Axel's the best father change my mind. we will see more of his parenting, and we will get Ember and Axel bonding moments which will be nice since Ember never had a proper father (or at least a good one).
