So I got into Legion FX in late August and apparently one hyperfixation required an entire art dump! Disclaimer: Legion is an adult show. Please consult warnings before watching. 1. David Haller! dvd harer... I had to do my thing (turning things I like into furries) and originally he was a ferret but I jolted up in the middle of the night and changed it because I forgot about racism! He's a European hare now. 2. Comics version! Praise be to the fuzzies, please put a shirt on. 3. Age of Apocalypse, X-Men Legacy Vol 2, + Legion 2018 (the comic) in that order! I find the sickos with reality-breaking powers deeply compelling but they (David FX and comics!David) are very different people. 4. Listened to The Normal Album while thinking about FX. oughh 5. drawings of him to get some features down :3 6. Part test on how to visually represent his powers, part doodles of him in agonies. 7. Decided it was frustrating me, so did a sketch page of actual hares to figure out how to make them anthro. 8. Doodles I did to put that into practice and as warm-up for the face studies! 9. Said studies. First 2 rows are from lineofaction, third is the actor, and fourth is of the character in specific. 10. bunnified 11. Attempts to draw him from memory. This is a surprise tool that will help us later. 12. Someone thought he was my fursona so I drew up a helpful diagram as comparison! I'm short. I drew in comics!David later but didn't take a picture. 13. Decided to put my face studies into practice by making realistic versions of my OCs, Ziggy and Merel. 14. Digitally painted them for funsies. Tried to let the colors show through! Really happy with how Merel ended up, the blues fit well. 15. With my newfound power, I went back to 9 to color my favorite sketches! 16. and 11, with less realistic lighting 17. Studies of banded sea kraits applied to a character's facial features, for the purpose of... 18. Fanart! I thought the new style of painting would be really fun for a character who has been partially transformed into light! Go read HuskComet. 19-21. A friend proposed song-based magical girls. Unfortunately these probably don't fit the bill but I had fun! 22-28. I found my poses lacking and wanted to do some studies on how to make distinctive silhouettes. In doing so, I decided to pay it all off with a spidersona redesign. First 2 pages lineofaction, then Anastasia and Spiderverse, then a lot more Spiderverse. I had an epiphany that Spiderverse designs around movement, and decided my guy was going to be a theatre kid. That meant looking at Disney villains, namely Elsa, Jafar, Megamind (not disney but flamboyant), and Cruella de Vil. I even tried to make some of my own poses! Throughout, I came back to Spiderverse to keep action inspiration in mind. 29. This paid off here, where I took a few poses, both referenced and original, and drew them with full detail. He has a cape and gas mask now, as well as hair! These all serve to strengthen his silhouette (spikier) and make him more expressive! 30-33. And then I drew David Haller in various states of distress <3 34. New icon! Based on a Legion promotional photo. This is actually the second version, as the first was scrapped for not carrying the perspective well enough. I'm much happier with this one!
