The tree of life in the midst of the garden glowed radiantly even in the night. The garden was a peaceful paradise, there was no harm and no evil, and everything was as perfect as perfect could be. This garden was planted by the Maker himself, it was called Eden, and it was home. It was home to all beasts and livestock and creatures. The Maker of the Heavens and the Earth created us all, and he also created man. He breathed the breath of life through the dust and created him in his image, his name was Adam, and He sent Adam to name us. Adam named me Kelev, or dog, and that is what he called the others of my kind. The maker also created woman, the most beautiful in all of Eden, with long curly brown hair and hazel eyes that twinkled in the light. Adam named the woman Eve, which means life. The man and the woman were happy together in the garden, and as the day passed by and turned into evening, and the 7th day dawned. They laid down in the grass together, looking up at the heavens. Slowly I sneaked over to them and rested my head under Adam’s hand as he stroked my brown fur between my ears. Suddenly I felt a soft breeze on my fur and the gentle wind through Adam’s hair, he smiled, because we both knew that it was the Maker’s breath on our faces. He who gave us life that day was going to rest after all he created that week. The whole garden was at peace as Adam and Eve shut their eyes and fell into sleep, and Eden fell silent and calm. I continued walking through the trees of the garden, my fluffy tail trailing behind me. Then I saw Arnav, or Rabbit, sleeping peacfully and innocently on the ground. Her little nose twitching as she lay curled up by a bush. I stepped closer and towered over small Arnav but stayed at peace, curling up around the grey rabbit. I fell asleep against Arnav that night in Eden, a fox and a rabbit laying at peace together, and that’s when a simple friendship sprouted. The days passed by in the beautiful garden of Eden, and all was still and perfect. Arnav and I ran and played together, following Adam and Eve through the garden. They talked and laughed and sung as Arnav and I chased each other into the bushes and rolled over each other. Then Eve wandered off to collect fruit from the trees, and we followed behind curiously. She went to the center of the garden, where the two most important trees were standing, the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Of one tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, beared the forbidden fruit which the man and the woman were forbidden to eat. We followed Eve as she continued picking fruit from the surrounding trees, fruits of delicious, unimaginable smells. Then, I saw the sneakiest creature of all of Eden in the forbidden tree, a serpent of the color red whose eyes were dark. Arnav and I hid in a bush, watching as the serpent sneaked up on Eve from behind. When Eve noticed it she didn’t seem startled, in fact she seemed rather pleased, and from there they had a conversation neither I nor Arnav could understand. The next thing we knew was Eve was reaching her hand out for the forbidden fruit, and then grabbed it and hesitated before taking one small bite. Confusion welled up inside me and Arnav’s ears flopped as Eve’s eyes widened as she ran to Adam with the fruit in her hand. We watched closely as Adam took the fruit from Eve and took a bite. Suddenly, the perfect and peaceful garden didn’t feel the same, it no longer felt like Eden as Adam and Eve pulled fig leaves down from fig trees as if trying to cover themselves. And for the first time, water splashed down from the man and the woman’s eyes as if feeling something they have never felt before, PAIN. Arnav and I huddled close together as we hid with the humans. A voice was calling, calling out Adam’s name, this was the voice of the maker. He walked through the garden looking for the man, radiating with the brightest light, brighter than the sun. His voice was deep and powerful and wise, stern yet kind, as he kept calling out. Then Adam revealed himself, with me at his legs. Adam’s voice was like nothing that was ever heard in Eden, a voice that couldn’t be described, ANGER. He pointed ferociously at Eve who was holding Arnav and crying as she mentioned the serpent. Then the maker grabbed the serpent from the tree and said something unimaginable to the three: Adam, Eve, and the serpent, something that was far from the voice he had when he first created us. Eve put Arnav down, who was now low to the ground and shivering. (Continued...)
(...Continued) Arnav and I watched in horror as the maker slaughtered a beast to clothe Adam and Eve, the beast he created with his own hand, all for his love to man. Together we were afraid and confused as we heard the roar of a beast. Suddenly Adam and Eve starting running out of the garden as if being chased by some wild animal, as if they felt something they wished they hadn’t, REGRET. As the paradise that Eden was, our precious home, grew dangerous with all the hungry beasts, Arnav still loyally followed me through the garden. Arnav didn’t run with all the other animals, but instead she trusted me, like she did that perfect night on the 6th day. Like she did when we played together and chased each other and snuggled together, yet I felt a change in me, and I was HUNGRY. Before another moment passed, I suddenly turned savage, and I turned and launched at Arnav’s neck. At this moment I didn’t feel perfect anymore, and I wasn’t, as I ravaged what was once a precious friendship. I felt an empty satisfaction as I continued walking through the garden, which was now guarded by a bright angel with a fiery sword. I felt that same feeling that the man and woman did, REGRET. For Eden used to be a beautiful paradise and look at what has come of it all because of one sin. And now I long for Eden again… 。・゜✭・.・✫゜・。.。・゜✭・.・✫゜・。.。・゜✭・. Conclusion: I feel like this story is a mix of Genesis and Zootopia XD But really, in the beginning everything was perfect. And the predator would lay down next to the prey, but after Adam and Eve sinned nothing was the same and the predators turned savage. Eden, which was once a beautiful paradise, was now forbidden. Nothing was perfect from then on, and foxes became predators and rabbits became prey. It is a sad story, yes, and it's all because of our sin :( 。・゜✭・.・✫゜・。.。・゜✭・.・✫゜・。.。・゜✭・.
