ok so this is my opinion on the film adaptation of The Picture Of Dorian Gray that is apparently being made a lot of people are mad about the producers making Basil and Dorian brothers- which i totally agree with, removing representation is never a good idea, especially when the author was convicted of illegal homosexuality because of it- and what's more, I think it's worth pointing out that even without explicit homoeroticism making them brothers would remove a lot of important storyline and plot setup. you'd practically have to rewrite the entire first half of the book. One of the main points is Basil seeing Dorian and instantly his life is changed- that cannot happen if he's known Dorian his whole life. the painting probably wouldn't even have existed if they hadn't met in the manner they'd met in the book. concluding my pointless yap about things nobody with a good social life cares about, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT
