Chapter 3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I stood in the kitchen making dinner when Evie came in. “Hey,” I greeted my non-identical twin. She grabbed a cherry coke out of the fridge. She sat on the counter. “I’m going to the movies with this new girl from work. Her name’s Lillianna.” Evie told me. “Do I know her?” I asked. “Maybe considering I got a text from her telling me that some maniac ran into a tree on her way home from work.” Evie looked at me with that stern mother look. I turned away and got really interested in the pepper I was chopping. Evie let out a light laugh. “This is why I walk everywhere. That way my bike doesn’t break and I don’t fall on top of an innocent girl who just wants to go home!” Evie told me. “Well she IS kinda cute.” I muttered under my breath. Evie jumped off the counter and marched up to me. “What did you just say?” She accused me. “Can you guys shut up?” Sophie, our younger sister asked. Evie and I turned to see the little blonde girl standing in the doorway. “Don’t say that. It’s not nice.” Evie told her. Sophie put her hand out in front of her and turned her head. Jeeze, for a 6 year old this girl has sass. “Please. I hear so many words come out of y’alls mouth that I know what they all mean.” Sophie put a hand on her hip. She had a small unicorn backpack and a pink tulle skirt. She wore baby blue ballet flats and a matching shirt. She wore her hair in two braids and a pair of pink sunglasses on her head. “We don’t curse that much,” I tell her. “Really?” She smirked. “I heard you say that ‘Amelia is the biggest beach I’ve ever met.’” That’s when I lost all cool. I burst out laughing while Evie’s face fell. It got better when Sophie let out a string of curses when her sunglasses fell on the ground. Evie turned bright red and I kept laughing. “That’s it! You’re coming to the movies with me. You get to hang out with me, Alice, and Lilly Mae.” Evie had the same smirk and crossed her arms. Sophie stuck out her bottom lip, stomped her foot and stormed up the stairs to her room. “Is she really mad about going to the movies?” I asked, turning back to the stove. “Apparently. She’s a 6 year old with an ego bigger than her.” I reminded Evie with a smile. She sighed and shook her head. She checked her phone and began to text someone. I turned off the stove and pulled her phone out of her hand. “You can set the table,” I told her, handing Evie a stack of plates. Evie groaned, but took the plates and walked into the dining room. I smiled and went to finish dinner. I was sitting on the couch when I got a text from my friend, Luke. Luke: Hey! Andrew: What? Luke: Is that anyway to treat ur bff? Andrew:... Andrew: Yes. Luke: Anyway, I was wondering… Do u wanna see a movie with me and Sma? Luke: *Sam Andrew: Yeah. Which movie? Luke: The new superhero movie? Andrew: Yeah why not? I turned off my phone and put it in my pocket. Evie had left with Sophie a few minutes ago to go see a movie. Well, Evie didn’t specify which movie she was seeing so if she’s at the same movie she can’t get mad, right? Oh well. It wouldn’t affect me either way. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I walked into the movies and saw Sam and Luke. They held boxes of popcorn and drinks. Sam held an extra box of popcorn and an empty cup. “Hey guys.” I waved. Sam handed me the popcorn and empty cup. I began to walk over to the soda machine. There was a girl with long curly blonde hair. It was dyed hot pink at the tips. She wore a blue sundress with little white daisies on it. Her shoes were baby pink converse high tops. I wore a blue oversized pinstripe button up shirt with short sleeves. I wore khaki pants. Walking up to the soda machine the girl turned. “You again?!” She cried.I turned to see the one and only Lilly Mae. She looked exactly the same as when I ran into her today but she had big green glasses. “Oh no,” I muttered. She grumbled something I’m sure was not very nice under her breath. “Well if it isn’t the one and only coffee girl.” I smirked, knowing I was getting under her skin. She groaned and rolled her eyes. “I stained that shirt that day.” She grumbled some words under her mouth and walked away to Evie and Alice. I walked towards Luke thinking he would know more about Lilly Mae than I did. “Hey what’s up with her?” I asked Luke. “She has been grumpy ever since she arrived. But now she has friends. So I think she’s good.” He said while stuffing his mouth with popcorn. “Oh, I didn’t know. Um, another question. Is Lilly Mae dating anybody?” I nudged Luke with my elbow. “Ow, and no. I don’t think so.” He said as he spilled a few pieces of popcorn. I checked my watch to see the time. The movie was about to start. “Come on. We need to go to our seats before the movie starts.” I said. Everybody then started to walk towards the movie theater. We moved in a big group towards our seats.
We sat towards the top where they were projecting the movie. Sam sat on the end of the row followed by Luke sitting next to Evie. After Sophie had cried out, “I don’t want to sit next to a stinky boy. I want to sit next to a girl.” Evie then gave up her old seat to sit next to Luke. I then asked, “What's wrong with sitting next to a boy?”Sophie put her hands on her hips and said, “A BOY grounded me. That’s why!” “Alright FINE we can switch seats.” I said, ready to tired deal with her. Evie piped up and said, “Do you know how poorly this could end?” “I’ll do it! I’ll switch my seat” Lilly Mae exclaimed. Sophie hopped out of her seat and switched with Lilly Mae. The movie then started shortly after the seat problem. I then realized as I was seated next to Lilly Mae. And during the entire movie I could not keep my eyes off her beautiful green eyes. Thanks to: @Odd_Redhead and @-Ava_Potter- for the inspiration
