the legacy we leave —————— ❈ Update (11/11/2025): It is a sad truth that some stories live longer than people. My great grandmother, the one who called me beautiful and loved me so much more than I ever could've known, has passed away. She left a fingerprint on my heart that I hope will never be erased. original a/n (21/09/2024): i've never been able to properly write about myself, but this piece is an ode to those around me. everything mentioned is true, and i am beyond grateful to have experienced these moments. even if they are now only memories. throughout the writing process, i thought about my own legacy. i wondered what i would leave behind, what the following generations would say about me, what i *wanted* them to say about me. and the first thing i thought of was my writing. i want this to be my legacy. these words, these stories. i want my words to change the world. and if that can't be done, i want them to change one person's world, the way they changed my own. —————— ❈ thank you to everyone who inspired this piece, and those who didn't make it in because eight pages is too long for people to read. thank you to my mother for being the first to read this as i paced next to the bed, anticipating her reaction. thank you to my family for reading it, reassuring me about the word choice, and being honest about their preferences for the cover. thank you to my best friend who read this, sent me the most beautiful voice note ever, and called me the "modern shakespeare" xD (never will be but i love the sentiment <3). thank you to my good friend who was the only one online as i spammed the group chat, who saw and reviewed almost *all* versions of the cover, from its frankly atrocious stage, to this beautiful design. (thanks for cheering me on! <3) thank you to starr (@stariqe) for the amazing critique, and helping me to elevate this piece! <3 and of course, thank you, dear reader, for taking the time to read this. it means the whole world to me. <3 —————— ❈ ✎ sтσяү: all me - 413 words ▢ вαcкgяσυη∂s: the site where you pin your interests + edited on Canva ♬ ѕσυи∂: "Fulfilling Humming" from YouTube ◎ тɪмε: quite a few non-consecutive days (first written for the introspection march swc daily, edited on my laptop + by hand months later, and then rewritten) —————— ❈ #legacy
