Chapter 33 Quidnunc “What are you doing here?” I asked. “We came to talk to you,” Peter said. “Why???” I questioned. “Because I just so happened to have wanted to,” Peter said. “GO GET CAKE OR SOMETHING!” I exclaimed, “I’m clearly also eating!” “Okay, Geez Louis Cutie!” Peter said. I blushed slightly and he got up and went to the serving table. “You too!” I said to Nathaniel. “No thanks,” he said. I sighed, “Don’t you have anyone else to talk to while I eat? You said you know everyone, so prove it. Prove you’re a Quidnunc.” “I’m not a Quidnunc because I know everyone,” Nathaniel said. “I - actually, I guess I kinda am, but that’s not the point. I can prove that I know everyone without leaving the table.” “Okay then, prove it,” I challenged. “Alright then, that girl right there, dancing with Peter,” Nathaniel said, pointing at Linda. “Wait, dancing with Peter?!” I exclaimed. “That’s why he isn’t back yet.” “Not the point, her name’s Linda Forrest,” Nathaniel said. “No siblings, third year, she’s Muggle-born and best friends with the blonde Gryffindor girl who’s also dancing with Peter.” “Why’re they both dancing with Peter?” I asked rhetorically. “No idea, but the blonde Gryffindor girl, her name’s Astrid Light. Halfblood, also an only child and third year, she hates animals,” Nathaniel said. “Why does she hate animals?” I asked. “I honestly don’t know that,” Nathaniel said. “But I know she has Care of Magical Creatures, which is a bit ironic.” “Yeah, that is,” I said. “Shall I continue?” Nathaniel asked. “Sure, why not,” I said. He pointed to Livanna, “Livanna Malfoy, fourth year, I don’t know much else about her, but her name and year.” He pointed to Paige, “Paige Nightshade, one sister, pure-blood, second year, she had a crush on a boy named Timothy last year, but broken heart.” “Huh, you’ve proven it to me, now I’m going to finish my pizza,” I said. “Okay, once you’re done, we might want to discuss the project due soon,” Nathaniel said. “We’re almost done, aren’t we?” I asked. “Yes, but we aren’t completely done,” Nathaniel said. “Okay then,” I said. We talked for a while about the project and then a song I really liked came on and I we decided we’d talk about it in the library tomorrow. I ran onto the dance floor. Then, realized I had no one to dance with. I frowned and looked around. Nathaniel came up to me and asked, “Are you looking for a dance m’lady?” “First off, don’t call me that, also, yes,” I said. “Would you like to dance with me?” Nathaniel asked. I thought for a moment, “Why not?” We swayed back and forth to the music until Peter came and stole me from Nathaniel. I giggled a bit and blushed. Nathaniel whispered something in Peter’s ear as he stole me back. It went on like this for a while before Paige came and dragged me away from them. “Boys,” she rolled her eyes. “Would you like to dance with me instead?” “Why not,” I said. We danced until the song ended. I noticed that Charolette and Elliot were dancing. Charolette leaned her head on Elliot’s shoulder and he blushed, but stayed calm and they kept dancing. When the song finished, Paige stuck her tongue out at the boys as I walked away, giggling. “What was that about?” Lily asked, smirking. “I think Peter’s jealous,” I said. “Um, I think Pixie broke Paige…” Athena said, walking over to me. Paige was lying on the floor, her face red. “Do you think she’s sick?” I asked. “No, that’s not it,” Lily said, smirking at Athena. The party ended a little bit after and we cleaned up. I took my presents up to my dorm and was so tired I decided to open the rest of them tomorrow.
