Chapter 32 14th Birthday Party I sat at one of the tables while Athena somehow got music playing. “First, food, then, cake, then, presents, then, dancing,” Athena announced. “Why do you have the music on before the dancing then?” I asked. “BECAUSE I CAN! PLUS, IT’S ALL JUST INSTRUMENTAL!” Athena said. “Okay,” I said. I saw a few people I didn’t recognize amongst the people sitting at the tables. I got up to go serve myself up some pizza and butterbeer. I returned to my table and sat down to eat. Avery, Evelyn, and Lily sat with me. Arina was sitting with the rest of her siblings and an unfamiliar girl with long black hair and brown eyes. Genevieve was sitting at another table with the Slytherin girl with light brown hair and pink eyes from when we had to go on the rescue mission. I think her name was Libby. Carrie was there too. Athena was sitting with Pixie and a younger girl Ravenclaw girl who looked familiar. Charolette, Elliot, Amelia, Linda, and an unfamiliar Gryffindor girl with blonde hair were sitting together. Then, Nathaniel, Peter, and… BLAKE! I finished eating my slice of pizza and walked over to them. “Blake? What are you doing here?” I asked. “Well, I heard about your party and felt a bit sorry about my sister and Cassandra causing you trouble, so I thought I might come to bring you a gift as a bit of an apology. Then, I ran into Nathaniel and Peter here and we started talking a bit, Happy Birthday by the way,” Blake explained. “Oh Thanks, and well, you didn’t really need to do that you know,” I said. “It’s fine, I’ll take my leave now,” Blake said. “Wait, don’t you want any pizza?” I asked. “No, I’m alright,” Blake said as he left. “Okay…” I trailed off. I turned to face Nathaniel and Peter. “So, um, enjoy the party?” I paused. “I don’t know, I didn’t plan this.” Nathaniel laughed, “You’re cute.” I flushed. Peter glared at Nathaniel. “What? It’s just that the way she didn’t know what to say was cute,” Nathaniel said. “Plus, she’s not taken so why would you care Peter?” I felt blood rush to my face. Peter blushed, “Because she might not feel comfortable!” “I’m fine!” I exclaimed. “I just think I need to go have girl time.” I walked away. Behind me I heard Peter say, “Oh look, you broke her!” I giggled as I walked back to my table. “Oooooh, what was that all about?” Lily questioned. “What was what about?” I asked, innocently. “You’re blushing deep red,” Lily said. “WHAT?!” I exclaimed. Lily, Avery, and Evelyn laughed. Athena walked over to us with Pixie and the other girl. “Adalaide, meet Paige,” Athena said, gesturing to the younger girl. “I realize how I recognize you now! You walked in on us getting dressed,” I said, then realized how embarrassing that probably was. “SO SORRY! I should really think before I speak,” I apologized. “It’s fine,” she squeaked, her face bright red. “Oooooh, you didn’t tell me about this,” Pixie teased. “Don’t torture me,” Paige said. Paige and Pixie walked away. Athena explained that Paige was Pixie’s sister, then went after them. “Well, that was interesting,” I said. Evelyn looked between me and Paige in the distance and just shrugged after. “What?” I asked. “Are you oblivious?” Evelyn asked. “I hope not,” I said. “To what?” Evelyn laughed. “So anything new happen lately?” I asked. “I met a girl who looks like me named Sunny,” Avery said. “I kinda meant about animagus stuff,” I whispered. “Not really, we haven’t talked about that in a while, but we can meet on Tuesday in the restricted section in the library,” Lily whispered. “What are you four whispering about?” Arina said from behind us. “NOTHING!” We all said in unison, then burst out laughing. Arina giggled too. “Anyway, I’d like you to meet my friend Livanna!” Arina said, gesturing to a tall Slytherin girl with long black hair and brown eyes shying away. I smiled, “It’s nice to meet you, I’m Adalaide!” Livanna smiled softly. Arina looked over at Livanna and could tell she was uncomfortable, so they walked away. “TIME FOR CAKE!” Athena announced loudly, “ADALAIDE GET UP HERE!” “Okay, geez, you take party hosting seriously!” I said. “I do, now get up here to blow out the candles!” Athena said. They sang Happy Birthday and I made my wish as I blew out my candles. ‘I wish to find the perfect person for me this year,’ I thought as I blew the candles out. Everyone cheered and got cake. I ate my cake and then Athena forced me to open presents. Avery basically pushed me over in order to give me hers first. Athena also put better music on and let everyone who wanted to, dance while I opened presents in case they didn’t want to watch that. Avery, Pixie, Paige, Evelyn, Lily, and Carrie were the only ones watching me open gifts. “Okay, so I’m opening Avery’s first because she’s forcing me to!” I said. Avery laughed, “You must open mine first!” “But, I’m going to open it slowly, for dramatic effect!” I said. I unwrapped the box as slowly as humanly possible. Avery groaned, “I WANT TO SEE YOUR REACTION! HURRY UP!”
I laughed and continued at a regular pace. Inside the box was a blue and silver tiara. It had three jewels on it. On the top, was the Ravenclaw symbol. One the left side was a Quaffle. And on the right was a fox. I stared at it in awe, “How did you, where did you-?” “Hogsmeade, Henry helped me order a custom tiara,” Avery said. “It’s beautiful! Thank You!” I said, hugging her. “You’re one of my best friends! Of Course!” Avery said. I let go of her and returned to the table of presents. “Would you open mine next?” Paige asked. I smiled, “Sure!” I found the one with the label of ‘From Paige and Pixie’. It was a long box and I had no idea what to expect. I opened it and found a broomstick with the label, ‘Lightning Bolt’. “Wha-” I trailed off, this was the latest broom, the best of the time since the Firebolt. “Do you like it?” Paige asked. “Of Course! But, why? I mean, you barely know me and you’re giving me the latest broomstick that just…” I said. “I know you…” Paige said, blushing. “What?” I asked, confused. Pixie smirked at Paige then looked at me, “We come from a wealthy pure blood family and we know you are one of the greatest youth quidditch players of the decade at the very least, so we decided to get you the greatest broom.” “This is incredible! Thank You So Much!” I exclaimed. Avery looked down a little bit. “Avery? You good?” I asked. “Yeah, it’s just…” Avery trailed off. I whispered in her ear, “I have two guesses, you either think that your gift isn’t as good, but trust me, it’s still my favorite next to the LightningBolt, which is saying a lot. Or, if you want to try out the LightningBolt at anytime, you can.” She smiled “That was about both of them.” I smiled, then I heard one of my favorite songs come on. “NO MORE TIME FOR PRESENTS! I’M DRAGGING YOU ALL ONTO THE DANCE FLOOR!” I exclaimed, putting on the tiara as I ran to the dance floor. It was instrumental, but I loved to do the dance. (Press Space to hear) I danced around in circles and spun as the song progressed. Eventually a bunch of others joined in and we had a large circle that resembled what was happening in the scene in Tangled. I spun in the center in the end. “That Was Aweseome!” I exclaimed. Everyone laughed a bit and then went back to dancing or whatever else they were doing. I walked over to the serving table and got more pizza and then went back to my table. Nathaniel and Peter came and sat with me. No Thumbnail Yet I hope this especially long chapter makes up for the amount of short chapters I’ve had before lol.
