Story: He had been right, he had been so right about it. Soon he felt no wind rushing past him and he assumed that he had already hit the ground, and was flat as a pancake. He could barely hear anything until. “Ember wake up! Its ok” Ember grudgingly opened his eyes to see Orpheus sitting over him. And Ember realized he was alive. It wasn’t until Ember opened his mouth to say something that he realized that he had been whimpering like a child this entire time. “what?” he asked. “you only fell a foot or two before I grabbed you, just like I promised” Orpheus said. So that’s why his journey to the ground seemed so quick. Ember looked around and saw that they weren’t on the ladder anymore, they were on the roof. Ember let out a shuttering sigh. Orpheus let out a small laugh. “it’s not funny” Ember said. “I could have died”. “but you didn’t cause I caught you, like I said I would” he said. “but look at the view”. Ember stood up and looked forward. The view was majestic. Ember could see the whole city from a birds eye view. And maybe I Ember hadn’t almost died he would say it was worth it. “wow” was all Ember could say. “I know right” Orpheus said getting up and going to sit at the edge of the building, he then motioned for Ember to join him. Ember sat a little behind him, after that near death experience he wasn’t going to get that close to the edge. “so Ember what do you think?” Orpheus asked. “I think the view would be a lot better if I didn’t almost die getting up here” Ember said. A moment of silence. “I wanted to say thank you for saving my life… twice”. Orpheus’s words almost caught Ember by surprise. “oh well, your welcome, I just doing what needed to be done” he said. “you didn’t have to save me, and you had now reason to, but you did.” Another moment of silence. “which is why I think there is more to you than I once thought”. Orpheus finished. “Like?”. “well, you’re smarter than you look, and you’re more compassionate than you realize,….”. Ember listened as Orpheus listed stuff about him. Ember didn’t know why he had saved Orpheus that day, but the answer was starting to get clearer. When Orpheus finished listing stuff off Ember started saying stuff he wasn’t trying to say it just came flowing out. “well their might be more to you than I once thought as well”. He said. “your nicer than I thought, your not a coward, and….. your to overdramatic”. Ember finished and Orpheus laughed. There were a few more moments of silence. “Ember do you know what we have to do when we hurt?” Orpheus asked. Ember shook his head he hadn’t really thought about it. Orpheus sighed. “we don’t have anyone to heal us, so most the time we have to heal each other… and without the medical training you have”. “you don’t know what to do” Ember said. Orpheus nodded. “do you know what happened to Mnemosyne?”. Ember remembered hearing the name once or twice from the news broadcast, their power had to do with memory and one day they just disappeared. “I’ve heard of them, but I don’t know what happened to them” Ember said. “well they were one of are strongest members. One day me, him, Atlas, and Prometheus found ourselves in a situation where we had to fight. It was going ok until…” Orpheus trailed off for a moment before continuing. “they shot him.” Orpheus sounded like he was about cry. “we did everything we could but… Ember I lost a brother that day”. Ember could feel his heart skipping a beat. A brother? If they were brothers. That meant .. Prometheus would have lost a second son if Ember hadn’t saved Orpheus. Ember looked at Orpheus, if they weren’t crying before they definitely were now. “Ember do you care for all lives?” Orpheus asked. Ember nodded. “then I ask you if you could help us” Orpheus continued. “you don’t have to make a decision now, but if you decide yes then there may not be turning back. And if you chose no then I respect that”. Ember felt his heart skip another beat. Then there was a voice behind him. “Orpheus, what are you doing?” Ember turned to see the newest member of the AOS, Hephaestus. “Hephaestus, what are you doing here” Orpheus asked. “I was sent to find you” they said. “what are you doing talking to this random citizen?”. “their not a random citizen, they are the one I was telling about, the one who saved my life” Orpheus answered getting up and walking over to Hephaestus. Hephaestus lifted their eyebrows and looked at Ember. “is that true?” they asked. Ember nodded his head and Hephaestus looked down and cursed under his breath. “come on Orpheus lets go” he said. “what about Ember, he’ll need help getting down” Orpheus said. “Hurry up” Hephaestus said clearly annoyed. The trip down was a lot easier than the trip up. When they reached the ground Orpheus bid him farewell, while Hephaestus just looked at Ember with anger in his eyes.
