Scientific name - Fumosquilla luxstella Common Name- Smokefloats Niche- Parasite Evolution - Evolved from Fosvermi Description: Smokefloats are small, wormlike creatures that live in the depths of the ocean, especially near volcanic vents. They attach themselves onto Smokevine appendages, and gnaw into the appendage until they drill into the valves. After penetrating into the valves, they essentially become a part of the Smokevine. They take in food and waste from the Smokevine, and also absorb food from smaller valves used to store nutrients, chemicals and lipids. They sift water through their bodies from the valves and take in the food, nutrients and chemicals, and propel the water out its silts to gain nutrients. They are five to seven centimetres long and live up to three years. Their hair like appendages (or whatever those are) have bioluminescent organs. This prevents overcrowding by allowing other Smokefloats to know how many are already latched onto one Smokevine and thus avoid damaging the Smokevine. if the Smokevine runs a resource deficit, the Smokefloats attached will detach and find a new host.
Yeah I kind of figured that something built like the Trenchworm would be an efficient parasite and hey, it kind of worked. Also please please please make more organisms that interact with the chemotrophs, they're too isolated an I'm out of ideas
