Today, on the 24th of September 2024 the long awaited annual edition of Level 5 Vision finally took place. The featured games of the event were seven, five of which were already previously announced. What is interesting for us (where "us" is a reference to those who are part of the Yo-Kai Watch International Community Studio on Scratch) is that one of the two games that were not officially announced previously is closely related to Yo-Kai Watch, although it's inappropriate - if not completely wrong - to call it a sequel (so no Yo-Kai Watch 5, Blasters 3, Y School Heroes 2 or things like that). This game is called "Holy Horror Mansion" and it's INSPIRED by Yo-Kai Watch. If you remember, the clues we had before the beginning of Level 5 Vision suggested us that probably this Ghost Craft RPG game would be a new game of Yo-Kai Watch or a continuation of it. And after getting more information from the streaming, the latter hypothesis turned out to be the correct one. In fact, Holy Horror Mansion apparently seems to be a game that is very similar to Yo-Kai Watch. Not only because of the design and the style, but also because of the story, of the ideas and the concepts, and of several little aspects that recall the world of Yo-Kai Watch. But the question I asked myself, which is also the main topic of this project is: Should we consider the invention of this game a victory for Yo-Kai Watch? What I mean is, how will Yo-Kai Watch be affected by this new game? Why didn't the creators invent a sequel instead of developing a brand new project? Does the Level 5 Vision mark a new beginning for Yo-Kai Watch... or an end? These are all things that have to be seriously considered when talking about Holy Horror Mansion, because right now we're dealing with a game that might help Yo-Kai Watch to regain its fame by reviving the memories of millions of kids who have played, or have watched, or have read, or have simply heard about elements of the franchise OR a game that has the power to annihilate it completely, because if the creators see that there is a certain evolution of the popularity of Holy Horror Mansion, we cannot know what will be their next move, so we cannot determine whether they would forget Yo-Kai Watch completely and concentrate on this new project in case of success or they would throw away forever the ideas of both of the games in case of complete failure. Summarizing, the existance of Holy Horror Mansion might save or compromise the existance of Yo-Kai Watch, and basically will decide the fate of the franchise we all love.
