I know that people think it doesn't matter and what-not, but this can make people question if they should open up to people, even if they know that you don't think so/mean so/to If you say this or are in this situation, please be more cautious and/or considerate/understanding that that is not always the correct term. If you don't know what else/other term to use, ask them "oh, really? Congratulations. what is your sexuality?"
