This all couldn’t fit in instructions so the second half is in notes and credits :) Image is Skipper (left) and I.N.K (right) next to eachother 1: What story will you be using to answer these questions? How would you quickly describe the storyline? I’ve decided to do I.N.K’s story since his is the most developed so far out of the ones I have. Basically the story is a young dog named Skipper works as a writer for a newspaper company, but as a kid, he dreamed of being of a cartoonist but gave up his dream in his middle teens. Now 22, he meets I.N.K, a strange creature who lives in a magic inkwell, his childhood friend, Irene, gave to him, not knowing that I.N.K was inside it. The two of them will have to work together to defeat the villain, and along the way, Skipper will rediscover himself and his imagination and pursue his dream again. 2: What inspired your story? Shortly after I created I.N.K I thought maybe he could meet a character who lost their imagination and needed help finding it again, and that’s how I came up with the idea of Skipper and him meeting I.N.K and everything. Also I’m obsessed with vintage and decided to incorporate 20s culture into the universe as well 3: Does it take place on Earth or in a made up land? In what time? The story takes place in the beginning of the 1940s, in New York City. But some of the places are made up for the purpose of the story, such as the area the Skipper lives in and whatnot. 4: What’s a favorite place in your story and the events that happen there? I really like the town Skipper lives in, as it is sort of a “Diasporic Community”, where the folks living there live like it’s the 1920s despite it being the 40s. They still listen to the radio, watch black and white cartoons and listen to old swing and jazz music. Basically the story combines the culture from the 20s and 40s. 5: Who is your protagonist? What is their mission? Skipper is the main protagonist (I.N.K is the deuteragonist and Irene is the tritagonist). His goal is to stop the villain, who actually happens to be his boss, from taking over the entertainment industry (I haven’t quite figured out how the villain plans to do this though) 6: Who is the most underrated character in your story and why? Probably at this moment, Irene, because she doesn’t have an incredibly huge role and is more of a supporting character, but she is still fun. She is silly and sassy, but overall friendly, and I had a lot of fun making her. 7: What two characters have the most interesting relationship (good or bad)? Skipper and I.N.K definitely have the most interesting relationship, as their personalities are basically opposite. Skipper is super pessimistic and serious, but I.N.K is incredibly energetic and emotional and “animated”, they may not get along well but they are quite a fun duo 8: What are the conflicts of the story? Do you have villains? At first, Skipper doesn’t like I.N.K and tries to get rid of him, but when they are forced to work together I.N.K tries to get Skipper to lighten up and have fun in life, and he eventually convinces Skip to find his passion and imagination again. As for the villains I want the main bad guy to be Skippers boss, and he wants to take over the entertainment industry to increase profits for his news company. However, he discovers I.N.K and takes an interest in him, and decides to go after him to figure out how he gets his powers, and how they could possibly help the villain. The villain also has 2 lackeys who help him, but they aren’t the brightest 9: Which character is the most misunderstood? I.N.K is definitely the most misunderstood character because a lot of people see him as a monster, and he causes lots of trouble wherever he goes, not always on purpose 10: Is there a character the most like you (or even based off you)? What qualities do you share? Hmm. I feel like I share some qualities with Irene, while I’m not an extrovert like she is, we both do our best to help other people when they feel down. I also relate with Skipper a lot because he is stressed often and I can get stressed sometimes, and we both really like drawing cartoons. Also he was born in the 20s and I love that era 11: Is there an animal sidekick? Uhh… I mean most of the characters ARE animals.. XD 12: Who or what acts as the comedic relief? I.N.K, obviously. His shapeshifting ability will cause chaos numerous times and since he follows cartoon logic, there are some minor gags from him that are well known in cartoons, such as walking off a tall place and gravity not working until they look down 13: What is the underlying message or moral of the story? The message of the story is that everyone has an imagination, even when people seem super pessimistic and serious about life. Sometimes all they need to do is look within themselves and they can create something amazing
14: What are some symbols or hidden meanings you have placed? I guess the inkwell is sort of a symbol for peoples’ ideas and creativity, it is rumored that the inkwell can bring out the creativity in people and bring their ideas to life, but some people will try to take those ideas for themselves 15: What genre would you consider your story? Definitely a comedy, but there will be some minor frightening moments, like a scene where I.N.K almost dies to fire (that’s the only thing that can defeat him) 16: What type of media is your story (book, animation, movie, play, etc)? I can see this story as either a movie or a comic 17: What’s a song that matches an event or character in your story? Idk I guess any old style jazz song because of the culture in this story 18: Is it a cast of people, animals, or both? Animals, and one ink monster 19: What’s something funny or ridiculous that happens? There is a scene where Skipper, I.N.K and Irene will be surrounded in a building, and I.N.K gets so stressed he explodes (but don’t worry he’s completely fine and does that often), there’s also a joke where he gets his neck caught in a door (again, he’s fine) 20: What’s the biggest obstacle your protagonist must overcome? Skipper will have to learn to stop seeing the negative in things and just be himself 21: Does anyone die? How does it change things? Skipper’s mom dies when he was a teenager during the Great Depression, and Skipper thinks it’s his fault because he wasn’t working hard enough to make money to care of her, and instead he drew silly cartoons, which is what causes him to give up his dream 22: Which character would you choose to be your friend? Who would you not get along with? I would totally want I.N.K to be my friend, once you get the know him he’s a great guy to hang out with and he’s super fun. I feel like I’d get annoyed by Skip’s pessimism after a bit 23: If any, what weapons are used? Bats, fire, and vacuums 24: How does your story differ now from when you first started making it? Originally I.N.K was meant to be the main character, and it was supposed to follow just his adventures. There was also going to be other ink beings, like an ink cat named Sasha, and a whole other world they all lived in that was a white void and everything there was made of ink. But then I got the idea for Skipper and I completely changed the story 25: What’s something interesting about your story that wasn’t asked about here? After the events of this story, Skipper decides to pick up his dream again, and goes to work for a show-squirrel named Ska Whirl as a starting point to his career, yes, @Fauvie s character XD I was originally planning to put this image in my Art dump but I guess I can show y’all a teensy bit early ;) Song is “Forest Follies” by Kristofer Maddigan (I love this song it’s so ragtime)
