˚₊✩‧₊ ❝ dawn is coming, open your eyes ❞ ★ greetings!! welcome to clementine's research project. here is where i will gather all my research i've done on her conditions in order to make sure i can roleplay them properly ... ⋆˙⟡ lop ears ⊹ (https://www.catster.com/ask-the-vet/cat-ears-drooping/) cause ★ there can be many causes of lopped ears in cats but the one that probably caused clems' is something called "facial nerve paralysis". description ★ "if you see the pinna lower than usual, this would be a drooping ear." effect on her ★ she wouldn't be affected much by this, except her ears would obviously droop lower than other cats'. her hearing would be probably less effective than other cats, which would cause her to refine her other senses. ⋆˙⟡ blep ⊹ (https://www.uk.sheba.com/blog/bonding-care/why-do-cats-stick-their-tongue-out#:~:text=A%20cat%20sticking%20its%20tongue,neurological%20or%20other%20health%20issue.) cause ★ "Brachycephalic cat breeds are more likely to stick their tongue out due to their facial anatomy. With smaller mouths, brachycephalic cats may occasionally not fully retract their tongue into their mouth." description ★ she basically has her tongue sticking out almost all of the time. effect on her ★ she will be able ti retract her tongue whenever she wants, but it just isn't her resting position. blepping her tongue is a lot more comfortable for her. ⋆˙⟡ bobtail ⊹ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Bobtail#:~:text=3%20Behavior-,History,gene%2C%20which%20is%20also%20dominant.) cause ★ "a random spontaneous genetic mutation within the domestic cat population" description ★ a shortened tail effect on her ★ she will be generally just as healthy as a normal length tailed cat. additionally, "while typically harmless, this mutation might make a Bobtail susceptible to diseases of their spine, hips, or nerves." she also may have trouble with balance since she doesn't have a tail to help that. ⋆˙⟡ imposter syndrome ⊹ (https://www.helpguide.org/mental-health/wellbeing/imposter-syndrome-causes-types-and-coping-tips) cause ★ the two causes of clementine's imposter syndrome are personality and being different. cats with more neurotic personalities are more prone it it, as are cats with low self-esteem. furthermore, clementine is different from her peers, which can lead to imposter syndrome. she looks smaller, weaker, and more fragile, for instance, and this may make her think she can't do anything or anything she accomplishes is because people took pity on her. description ★ "Imposter syndrome, also known as imposter phenomenon or impostorism, is the tendency to believe your success is undeserved and that someday people will realize you’re a fraud. The belief persists even when concrete evidence, such as degrees or awards, indicates that you are worthy of your accomplishments." effect on her ★ she may briefly feel good about completing something, but it doesn't last. instead of accepting positive feedback she will blame it all on other factors besides her own talent. for instance she might think she only succeeded because she put an enormous amount of effort, or because of luck, and that she isn't actually good at it. also, when given a task she feels self doubt and the need to "overwork or risk being exposed as incompetent." she desired to be the best at all times - the and whenever messes up or isn't the absolute best, she beats her self up about it, feeling deep shame / humiliation. whenever she's surrounded by intelligent or talented people, she feels stupid and unworthy. clementine doesn’t share her experience with anyone either because part of her experience is fearing that others will find out she's incompetetent; so she would just suffer in silence. clementine's anxiety also impacts her imposter syndrome. it can lead her to fixate on how others perceive her. And when she fails to reach her own high standards that will only further contribute to feelings of anxiety. how she can overcome/live with it ★
⋆˙⟡ selective mutism ⊹ (https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/001546.htm#:~:text=Selective%20mutism%20is%20most%20common,extreme%20social%20fear%20(phobia). and https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/selective-mutism/#:~:text=Signs%20of%20selective%20mutism&text=The%20main%20warning%20sign%20is,who's%20outside%20their%20comfort%20zone.) cause ★ unknown,, associated with anxiety description ★ an inability to speak in certain social situations. a cat with this disorder does not refuse or choose not to speak at certain times, they're literally unable to speak. effect on her ★ she can easily talk in her den or riverclan camp, as long as they're aren't too many cats around, or with family and friends. but around cats she doesn't know well she will have fear and anxiety. she will be withdrawn and socially awkward. she may speak a few words, or in a whisper, or simply shake her head yes or no in less severe situations. but sometimes her face goes completely stiff and she cant communicate at all. she will also be very shy. when clementine is expected to talk to certain people, it triggers a freeze response with feelings of anxiety and panic, and talking is impossible. how she can overcome/live with it ★ in time, she will learn to anticipate what causes the freeze and avoid it if all possible. in addition, she will learn she will get over this around early apprenticehood. ⋆˙⟡ anxiety ⊹ (link) cause ★ description ★ effect on her ★ how she can overcome/live with it ★
