**Donnersturm Lore:** Archduke Franz Ferdinand got assassinated by a Serbian in 1914. This led Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia. At first, Austria-Hungary advanced into Serbia, but Serbian forces, supported by Russia, pushed them back. As the war went on, ethnic groups like Czechs, Slovaks, and Croats rebelled inside Austria-Hungary, encouraged by Russian aid. South Slavic rebels in Croatia and Bosnia joined forces with Serbia, defeating Austrian troops near the Serbian border. With Austria-Hungary falling apart, Germany annexed Austria to restore order. Hungary declared independence, but Germany invaded and took control of it as part of its new alliance, Mitteleuropa. At the same time, Lodomeria, a new country in Galicia, declared independence. The war ended with the creation of four new countries: Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Lodomeria. Germany then sent Lenin to Russia to weaken the Russian Empire. This started a revolution, but it was smaller than real history because Russia was stronger. Lenin’s supporters, the Bolsheviks, took over the Caucasus region and created the Union of Caucasian Soviet Republics (UCSR). Mitteleuropa grew into a powerful alliance between Germany, Italy, and Hungary. Italy joined after Germany gave it South Tyrol. Mitteleuropa then supported Lodomeria in a war against Russia. Lodomeria invaded and conquered modern-day Poland, creating the Kingdom of Poland. Meanwhile, the Ottoman Empire was falling apart. Arabs, inspired by rebellions in Europe, united into one state and attacked the Ottomans. The Ottomans, already weak, lost most of their Arabian lands, keeping only Northern Iraq and Northern Syria. At the same time, the Ottomans tried to fight the UCSR in the Caucasus, gaining only small amounts of land at a huge cost. After these wars, nations began to recover. However, tensions between Mitteleuropa and the Little Entente—a new alliance of Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Lodomeria—started to rise. The Little Entente broke ties with Mitteleuropa and started getting closer to the Anglo-French Pact, a group formed after France left the Entente because Russia had grown weak. Europe is on the edge of war. The storm is rising.
