The water supply was damaged by Robotnik to turn the ruins completely into a laboratory, causing the forest to dry up.
I made the music by modifying the MIDI I got from VGMusic I made it more like an actual bad future. The use of Desert Dazzle stuff is inspired by me noticing the arid looking region in the aqueduct concept art, making me realize that that desert region on Little Planet may have been R2 the entire time. The bad future structures in the Little Planet desert look very similar to the Dubious Depths cutscene structures.
