See, I don't always procrastinate. (actually I do) I have Debate/Model UN, and, I'm gonna share with you my essay submission to become one of the leaders of the club's subcommittees!! I started off with just the introduction, then went off to 'laze' about for another 5 days, then speedwrote the rest. Hey, don't blame me, the weekends are the worst! Busiest days! And then I don't come home until 6, because of swimming practice, and then I'm too lazy to write....*continues listing excuses for behavior* O.K. so proud. Feel free to comment any suggestions, but I've already submitted it, so yea Essay down below!
Leadership isn’t just about a title—it’s about inspiring action, taking responsibility, and guiding others through uncertainty with vision and empathy. I am committed to demonstrating these qualities with passion and diligence, making me well-suited to lead my sub-committee. I hope to lead my sub-committee, but regardless of the outcome, the journey matters more than the destination, as Ralph Emerson said. This position would allow me to broaden my experiences, equipping me with skills that will prove to be invaluable in the future. When people think of a leader, they usually think of someone who is good at giving directions and explaining things clearly. They fail to realize that these are often not the most essential traits in a leader. Open-mindedness, creativity, and adaptability are frequently more important. When you are debating, you’d like to keep options open. By being more receptive to ideas, you could learn a lot and have more points to argue with. Also, when you present this issue to your opponent, it can confuse them, therefore slowing down their counterargument. As I mentioned, leadership is one of the most essential skills in the real world. To elaborate, I'll provide examples of how it's applied in different circumstances. From a personal standpoint, leadership can be used for self-discipline, and by inspiring others by maintaining a positive attitude during challenging times. In a professional setting, leadership is constantly used in team collaboration, guiding the team through obstacles. It is also very beneficial in mentorship, such as assisting junior employees or interns, sharing knowledge, and offering support. In a community context, leadership is of great significance when organizing events and advocating for community issues, such as environmental conservation and public safety. When I was younger, I was extremely shy, to the point of seldom speaking. Through the experiences I’ve been exposed to, I’ve become much more outgoing, and accustomed to public speaking. Since second grade, my parents always forced me to make a speech to be voted for as a potential Student Council leader. I was always very awkward during the speeches, even if I was very outgoing in normal circumstances. In the end, I never did get selected, but I learned a lot during the process and became much more confident. After acquiring these skills, I aspire to become a leader who is passionate about what they do and is always willing to learn and adapt. Through the lessons I’ve learned and the experiences that have shaped me, I am dedicated to being foremost responsible, open-minded, creative, and adaptable when taking on the role of leader.
