There was no response other than the eerie echo of his voice, bouncing off the cold stone walls. Warily, he stood up. Looking around, Night slowly stepped out of his cozy sleeping cave into the long tunnel that stretched from his home to the outside. The outside... No. He'd abandoned the outside long ago. There was nothing for him out there, only pain and suffering and death. He was safer here. He was happy here. But... No! He thought fiercely, struggling against his own mind. I left! I vowed that I wouldn't return, and I will keep that vow! Night began walking faster, and faster, trying to shake the bad thoughts off his mind, until he realized he had gone into full sprint, running down the tunnel. The strange voice whispered of paradise, slithering possessing thoughts into his head, dragging him towards the exit. But at the last second, just before he could catch a whiff of the cool midnight air, he skidded to a stop. "NO!" He cried, panting from exhaustion. "I'M NOT GOING BACK OUT THERE!" "But they're waiting for you," the voice hissed gleefully. "They're alllll waiting for you." Night struggled, but he couldn't resist the temptation.
