this was from my notes app and I came up with it during a math test and wrote it down directly after (disclaimer) I see a lot of trans folks feeling like they were born in the wrong body. I understand that deeply. But I don’t experience it. No, I am a trans binary male who would like to medically transition and get top surgery, but I have never thought my body was the wrong one. Why? Because it (more or less) does what it’s supposed to. I was born with one heart, two lungs, a brain, and a uterus among other organs. They all function more or less how they should. I received some of them at random. Everyone does. I’ve wished my body was different. Everyone has. But my body has never been the problem. The problem is that other people, incorrectly, assume the organs I received at random mean something they don’t. What my body does is produces estrogen and menstruates, among other things. This says nothing about my personality or who I am. There is no reason it should. Yet people still think this, and THAT is the problem. Imagine someone assuming you’re a cat person because you’re blond, and they won’t accept you like dogs or let you hang out with dogs because of your hair color. That makes no sense, right? But that’s how I feel. This is what makes me want to change my body or appearance. It’s as valid a reason as anything else, but it makes me sad. I don’t dislike my body. If people weren’t always believing it means something different than it does, maybe things would be different for me. All this to say, letting trans people get the care they want and need is not where things need to stop. We need to make sure everyone knows that the way someone’s body is does not have anything to do with how you should perceive them, gender-wise. Gender affirmation care should absolutely be an option but not a necessity to pass. I’m proud of how far we’ve come as a society, but we still have a lot more to go. Anyway that’s it thanks for listening to me rant after a math test
for anyone looking to be transphobic watch these before you post and remember that sex is biological and relates to physical features, gender is part of your identity and a social construct. you cannot see it, you can only know someone's gender if they tell you. https://youtube.com/shorts/6zmflizIsDA?feature=shared https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koud7hgGyQ8
